30 Point Climb Club
Well it's gameday time this year and I thought this thread would be neat. This thread is for teams that have achieved a 30 point climb in competition. I ask that if your team has done a 30 point climb or witnessed a 30 point climb during a regional/district event then post it here with the Team Number, Regional, and a pic would be nice. Let's introduce the FIRST World to the 30 Point Club. (Or 3pc for short)
One More Thing: This thread is only ment to display teams that have achieved this task on the competition field. Robots doing a 30 at home is a "bit" different that them doing it in a high pressure match.;) |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
I believe 340 was the first team to achieve the 30pt climb today at the FLR practice matches. It was remarkably fast.

Here's a video of our robot climbing for 30 at the Finger Lakes Regional! (ok, so technically it only counted for 20, but we were only off by a quarter inch for a 30 point climb, which we've solved in the mean time).

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Two teams joined the 30 point climb club at Kettering today: 4819 and 3773. 4819 does it every match they're in, while 3773 has done it once. Here's video of a match where they were paired together, with 4819 getting a 30 point climb and 3773 getting a 20 pointer:

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 61 is part of the 30 point climb club. The fastest was 25 seconds. Our dump did not work so we took it off. it will go back on for the after market competition
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
1986 did not join the club this last weekend.
Just didn't need to. Expect to see us at the top of the pyramid when the game situation calls for it. We're ready. :) |

Anyone happen to snag pictures and video of 1218 at the top, and if anyone knows if 191 ever joined the 30 point climb club?
Also, if I can be directed towards pictures and video of 30 point corner climbers that aren't 16 or 118 that would be very helpful! Thanks! |

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
at BAE GSR, Team 213 climbed for thirty in 6 out of our ten matches, we got twenties on other 4,as we let two other teams climb once each and slipped below the line one time.
We decided early on in practice day to eliminate our wheels and went as a dedicated climber. we started in autonomous, and climbed with pneumatic. First time we ever went with no wheels and came in at a whooping 51.1 pounds. |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
We on 3467 got our climber working mid friday and hit 30 about 4 times with a few 20's and 10's as well.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
WE ROBOT 2705 has completed several 30 point climbs today at the Lake Superior Regional.
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
876 made about four 30 pointers today at Northern lights. In one match we fell from above the 20 point bar and, once the operators cleared their heads, grabbed the bar and recovered for a 10 pointer
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
997 and 847 are in a tough competition for the most climbing points at the Autodesk Oregon Regional. Both have done 30 point climbs every match.

so far I've seen 522, 1114,2013 3556, and 4587 from the little I watched today to add to the climb club.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Today and yesterday at the Waterford Mott District in Michigan, Team 1025 was capable of a 30 point climb with 20 point dump. They climbed up the rungs from the inside of the pyramid.
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 2582 accomplished multiple 30 point climbs at Lone Star. We also took a thrilling high-speed unexpected ride to the floor :yikes: in Q67 before the buzzer. We found out that our robot could bounce and the only damage was cosmetic and got right back on the tower in Q74 :D . Our bot has a new theme song...'Let the botties hit the floor' ;)

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 3055 climbed for 30 points at Northern Lights, in Duluth. We spent the practice day and the first day of competition reconfiguring the robot to the one and a half inches to tall pyramid, but we finally got a legal climb on the second day of competition.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Proud to say that Team 4014 had a very successful time climbing the pyramid. :) We think that our climbing mechanism is the only one of its type at the moment (it acts like an acrobat). It didn't fail once on us which was great... We also accumulated the highest amount of climb points of all the teams at our regional (330 Climb Points and ended up in rank 8). What was very suprising was that we were the only bot there that could clear the 20 point bar and fit into the 30 point zone and the 1ST one in Cali to do it! So many awesome robots this year, was a great competition!
Here is a cool video shot from the stands of our bot climbing to 30 points: http://youtu.be/nJdPwujAEx4 |

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
We (2013) made multiple sucessfull 30 point climbs at gte, also trying to make a double 30 point climb with our alliance partner 2994, which was unsuccessfull, but our alliance did get a total of 60 climb points in one match with us getting 30, 2994 getting 20 and 781 getting 10 against, 1114, 2056 and 1325.
Also to note that the robots must be able to overcome the tolerances of the pyrimids (which are not precise) which is the reason we cannot always make our 30 point climb along with other robots because the angle of every corner could be different |

The pyramids atleast at gte were relativlely flimsy, on one of our climbs the pyramid separated and one our hooks disengaged and we almost fell.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
GSR pyramids where very strong. We made our robot to be a very tight fit once up on the 30 point rail. The pyramid bars would separate by about 1", never to a point where it would affect our climb. We would swing on the second bar to a point the crowd thought we would fall off.
In the FIRST competition you have to realize that nothing is within tolerances. You have to make your robot to overcome big tolerances. Everybody I saw that ran up to the first bar to hang could not in the beginning due to the height of the lower bar. But most if not all fixed that problem. So teach the team to adapt to anything that could happen to the field or rules. It will make a better and less stressful time. |

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Wow after just two weekends of regional/district play, I didn't believe that my sticky note would fill up my computer screen with members of the 30 point climb club. I will have to ask the chief delphi community to help me keep up with the growing number of teams that can climb for30 points. If anyone from Israel has achieved a 30 point climb please let me know.(even though I believe 4338 probably has bylooking at their points). Also please let me know if I leave anyone off the list(sorry to 3196 last week).
Through Two Weeks in FRC play the 30 Point Climb Club Consists of 61 213 340 522 836 847 876 884 997 1025 1114 1168 1218 1277 1559 1991 2013 2177 2383 2582 2705 2994 3055 3059 3196 3293 3339 3467 3556 3773 4014 4451 4587 4819 Congrats Teams! :D :D :D |

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 3319, Grissom Robotics Engineering Applications Team, out of Huntsville, AL, would like to add our team to the prestigious list in the 30 Point Club.
At the North Caroline regional, we have climbed for the following after day 1 of qualifiers:
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 2359 made a 30 points climb 6 out of 7 times today. Missed on our first climb when two robots were trying to climb the pyramid at the same time. We made it to the 3rd bar, had the 30 point climb, but robot slipped down after time expired before we could get our roller hooks in place.
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
I'm told 1023 climbed 30 multiple times. Didn't actually see any of it though; I was working field cuing at the pit admin table.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Both 2359 & 1763 hit 30 multiple times at GKC. 1810 did a climb & dump in match 24 and had a 50-point climb & dump in QF 1-2; I don't know if those were their only two.
2359 won the Creativity Award for their climbing mechanism, particularly on their rollers that allowed them to both hold a climb & re-position themselves horizontally along the bar. This allowed them to not have to worry about precise positioning when they started. Both the award presentation & the team member I talked to made a point of noting that it was a freshman that came up with the idea. 1763 was the #1 pick of the 6th alliance captain. |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
3971 successfully climbed to Level 3 numerous times(at least 5) during the North Carolina Regional.
I will try to find a picture since their robot has no wheels. |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club

Here's a pic of 1810 in quarterfinals match 1-2 in the Greater Kansas City Regional. This accounted for 50 of the 86 points the #8 alliance scored in that match.
Sorry about the poor quality; it's an extreme crop of a wide-angle shot showing that both 1806 & 1810 scored in the pyramid in that match. SWAT's climb is only to 20, so it wasn't a double-double. And unfortunately they didn't have all 4 disks loaded, so 1810 outscored them in the end game. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT55i...e_gdata_player here it is as promised. A successful 1023 climb and dump.. minus the disk that fell out from a bad line up attempt.

IMG_5721 shows dedicated 30-point climbers in GKC. Neither made it to the top in this match; 1763 stopped at 20 and 2359 ran out of time. This is a good view of their rollers.
IMG_5864 shows 1763 in match 58 in the GKC qualifiers. This would have won the match; the opposing alliance scored a total of 22 (12 disk, 10 climb). Unfortunately, I don't have a pick of 2359 at the top, but given their climbing score of 340 they obviously got there more than once. |

Team 453 does a 3 level climb in about 30-45 seconds every time. However we ran into trouble because of the field floor being off. The rule designated 30 inches of clearance between each rungs, but on the first one it is only 29 1/4 inches. This messed up our original swinging and we had to take all of friday to fix it. But we do climb excellently now! So excited for troy athens |

Re: 30 Point Climb Club
Team 2481 and 4143 joined the club today at Wisconsin. We both did 30 point climbs in match 55 on the blue pyramid. 4143 also dumped 4 (i think) discs in the pyramid goal. We also had 1259 on the pyramid with a 10 point climb.
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
1714 does a really sweet climb and dump that's good for at least 45 points.
|
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
75 joined the club today at Mt Olive (MAR). They made it look easy.
Their first climb was in a match where all six robots were hanging at the end. Just doesn't get more exciting than that. |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
I find it curious how there are more members in the 30 point climb club than the 7 disc auton club, I would personally classify the 7 disc as easier.

Re: 30 Point Climb Club

1259 joined the club in their next match if memory serves. Maybe there is a 120 point climb and dump combination out there. Would like to be in (or at least see) that. For us, in 4143, we ended up with 5 straight 30pc in qualifying, then 2 more in quarters in a losing effort against... who was it again? Grin. We had one other 30pc and a 20 and 10 where we chose to stop (drivers smartly saw no need for the risk based on scores in those matches). Most of our climbs come with a 4 disc dump for 50 total on the pyramid. All in all a great weekend for the team. It was a long way from stress free getting here though. Tough challenge all the way around this year. |
Re: 30 Point Climb Club
1918 finally broke down and did it this weekend along with the 20 point dump. I am still hoping to see 6 robots on level three at MSC. It is going to take corner climbers, anyone want to join us??
