2013 Lone Star Webcast

Your tireless RD assures me that a link for the 2013 Lone Star webcast will be showing up on the NASA FRC Webcast Page sometime on Wednesday. Trust me, I'll be keeping an eye on the situation. If I don't see anything by midday Thursday, I'll start the heads a-rollin'. I know none of you would want to miss any of 57's quals matches or anything.

Mean time, feel free to talk amongst yourself about rapidly approaching festivities. I hear there might be one or two good teams showing up.

Thanks for the update! 3 (hopefully a couple more) of us from 2080 are heading up there Friday evening to watch matches on Saturday; can't wait for the weekend to get here!

Only the likes of 118, 148, 159, 192, 231, 418, 457, 624, 1477. And of course 57. There's just too many competitive teams to name haha.

You forgot 2587 and 3847. Especially 3847. I'd do some serious worrying about them teaming with a full court shooter.

Unfortunately 159 won't be there. We had too many Conflicts to make a second regional this year. I'm really hoping we make the trip in the coming years though.

Try to have fun without us :p.

Of all of the week 2 webcasts, really looking forward to this one.
We had a blast last year, and all of the teams mentioned in this thread were awesome with great people running them.
Its too bad 148 never made it last year.

**Please take care of that Hawaii team 2438 that is coming this weekend.

I can't wait for Thursday. This is the earliest we've held Lone Star in a long time. Normally we've seen or played against most of the robots but this year it feels like we're flying blind. I tried to do some pre-scouting but there just isn't enough to go on. There are going to be a lot of very interesting unveilings Thursday morning during practice matches.

I think we'll see this matchup a lot in alliances. From the looks of it, 3847 in theory has one of the most reliable shooters due to their proximity.

I'm hoping they can stand up to the defense that's inevitably going to come down on them. Once teams catch on, they're likely to get pounded as soon as they hit the alliance wall and the lift starts heading up.

It looks like having a larger robot will be an advantage in taking down the smaller robots. We figured out that most of the robots won't be able to block our shooter due to its height.

They will be right next to us, so I'll make sure they get a giant Texas sized welcome!

So are we. We've beat up our practice bot a bit and it seems to still work most of the time. We're still developing a lot of stuff though so we're cautiously optimistic. We're also a little worried about this new low bar situation. Our robot is built to be an 1in under the bar but I've seen reports of the bar being under that at some of the week 1 regionals. We're helping to setup the field tomorrow night so hopefully we can get it closer to the right spec.

It's going to be a very interesting regional. Only two days left. I'm going to get scrap metal from Trident Metals tomorrow for the machine shop and I'm dropping off our pyramid tomorrow afternoon for the shooting practice field.

See everyone Thursday.

It's looking like the machine shop and spare parts are going to have a half ton of material to work with this year. You're not the only team bring up scrap material, after all.

Now if only we could figure out a way during the 6 weeks to get all this scrap material and expertise together with rookies that need more material and expertise...

I'll be watching as much of the webcast as I can and cheering on my favorite team! And... some of my other favorite teams! :)

Thank you so much for the great news about the awesome webcast availability and thank you, NASA, for continuing your unwavering support of FIRST.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Jane

We sort of tried this with TX/RX Labs (Houston Hackerspace) but almost no teams took advantage of this. We had a few pieces CNC routed for us but I don't know if any other teams used the resources they were providing.
