2013 Israeli Regional
Hi,
Typing this up real quick cause I'm leaving for the venue in a couple of minutes. So, Israel will finally have a webcast up this year, probably. :) Webcast link: http://www.firstisrael.org.il/page.asp?page=4021 I also sent the info to TBA so they can add it to gameday. Israel is an exciting regional with teams from Israel (obviously), California (Team 1836: The MilkenKnights) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (3368 Spirit of the United Neretva). At least one team (2630 The Thunderbolts, 2010 regional winners) is also playing a regional in the states (washington), 1836 are going on to LA. Israel is GMT+2, at the time of writing it is 06:30 am (you can check that against the post time to see the time difference). So all you night owls can have fun watching a regional on the other side of the globe :) Good luck, and see you at the competition! -Leav |
Re: 2013 Israeli Regional

Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
Interesting. Looks like the carpet is a different color (North american events the carpet is a similar color to the black gaff tape)
Also, the camera feed seems really dark. Is it actually that dark in the venue? |

I think the carpet is in the same color, it's dark in all the arena except for the playing field...
Really nice competition, you can see my team's climbing in the attached photo |
Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
Caught yesterdays last match.
Looks like quarter finals start in 15 minutes (7am Eastern US time) |
Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
Can someone explain how the tiebreaker was wrong, that caused the QF match replay after the SF started? They explained it in English on the webcast (thanks), but it was brief. This is an interesting situation, that I don't think I have seen before.
Was the tiebreaker wrong due to the automated scoring of autonomous discs being incorrect? If it was wrong couldn't the tiebreaker point just be reversed after the manual count was checked? |
Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
Finals should be starting now, full court shooting ;)

So miss being there. T. Bray. Former coach 1662.

I was really confused about the way they broke the tie, I had no idea that was the way it was supposed to be done, but I looked it up and it is, section 5.4.4 of the manual: Quote:
Now I'm thinking the mistake could have been either:
The israeli announcer is sportscaster, but he's not very fluent with the FRC rules (perhaps to be expected) so he didn't really convey any information about the nature of the mistake, and certainly didn't say if it was either of the above options. hope that helps add some info... -Leav Lookout for the Israeli teams at st. louis! |
Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
I always thought that tiebreakers were applied automatically by the field/scoring system, is that not the case? Seems like such a system would prevent this issue from happening...

Re: 2013 Israeli Regional
Hi. I'm the alliance captain of the 8th alliance. The game was not a replay. For some reason FMS messed up the score and it should have been a win for us, because we had more foul points. After we had been "eliminated" we found out that we had actually won the first match, and that we would be playing the 3rd match of that round.
