Missouri and Kansas rankings
I thought it'd be fun to join California and Texas and apply the FiM ranking system to Missouri and Kansas teams.
Only 1986 has gone to two events as of week 3, so Missouri looks a bit out of whack: Code:

Heyyy, we're tied for 8th best robot in KC right now. I was going to offer help with this project, but it would appear that you don't need it anymore  I like how it puts a comparison for all teams in your local area, even if you didn't compete with them.

I'm sure I made an error or eight, but it's probably pretty close. |
Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings
Only one Missouri (1985) and one Kansas (3172) team competed in week 4; Queen City & Dallas respectively. So updating the data for this week was simple. Congratulations to 1985 for joining the MO & KS teams going to CMP; we'll see you there.

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings
After week 5, we added 1987 (RCA at Alamo) to the list of Missouri & Kansas teams eligible for CMP. All teams have now competed in at least 1 event. In order to show a better comparison between teams that have gone to different numbers of events, I've included a maximum & average score. Only 1986 has been to 3 regionals; per FiM rules only the first 2 count so I've not included our data for Oklahoma.

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings
Out of curiosity, any chance of seeing an updated ranking list after teams competed for a second time in week 6 at Razorback?
Thanks! |

Did any Missouri/Kansas teams compete at other Week 6 events? |

Re: Missouri and Kansas rankings
15 MO & KS teams competed at Crossroads and Razorback in week 6; 13 of those were in eliminations. Up Next! (3528) won EI at Razorback and RAVEN Robotics (1288) got a wild-card slot at Crossroads, adding 2 teams to the list of CMP-eligible teams.

Thanks for doing these rankings. I realize they're a lot of work and are time consuming, so for that, you are awesome. |

What do we do with the Illinois teams that traditionally come to STL? We'd also miss the periodic visits of the Iowa, Arkansas, and Oklahoma teams that come to GKC. Something else to address. |

Also include Iowa and Arkansas. Not sure about OK, they might want to join a Southwestern district system (i.e., Texas, Louisiana, etc.) instead. All this speculation highlights your main point -- the teams are spread thin geographically. A strong district system should have at least five events, but more would be better. One event per twenty teams fits the FiM model, which is working well up here and in MAR right now. All this speculation makes me miss my old team, and my old planning committee, back in St. Louis. Fun times ahead for you folks, I wish I could be there. :( |
