Climb and Dump Club
After watching 1114 and 1421 (climb & dump robots) put up consistent climb/dumps in their respective finals, this strategy should be important at champs.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Consistent? Perhaps not, but by the eliminations of raliegh team 587 figured out dumping and successfully completed 2 or 3 dumps in the 5 matches played in elims. After an quite an adventure to get there it was ratifying to beat the number 2 alliance as a very low low underdog alliance, helped greatly by 50 points per match. No championships for us, but hey... it dumped :D

2177 did it at Lake Superior, and plans to do it again in a couple of days at North Star! http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=114813

Re: Climb and Dump Club
3339 could climb and dump. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNJ3MIAxu30
We didn't perform the dump in our regional because most of the robots were definsive and blocked us from going back to the pyramid... |
Re: Climb and Dump Club
Change the link in here for 2177 to this, it's a much better (and faster) rendition of our climb.
On a side note, we figured out the software bug that was slowing us down... I hope to be able to post several more videos showing our new reliable speed after North Star this week! |
Re: Climb and Dump Club
Really glad we got to join this club. These are some impressive times.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Here is a better video of our climb & dump. I'd like to say that this is a "typical" match for us (5 in auton, 8 in teleop, climb & dump), but not yet. We're working on it. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=616727458356643&set=vb.179172515489660 &type=2&theater

Re: Climb and Dump Club
1023 did a handful of climb & dumps at the Centerline (formerly Wayne State) competition 2 weeks ago... and that was coming back after falling from level 3 during a practice match on Thursday night and catching on fire (well, the bot was SMOKING)! Super kudos to Bedford Express :D

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Team 1448 competed with our 50pt climber/dumper at the Oklahoma regional and went to semi-finals until we lost to the Titanium/S.W.A.T alliance. Our climb time was 50 seconds.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
1334 was finally able to climb and dump at GTR West.
|
Re: Climb and Dump Club
We were finally able to do it....once. That counts right? :D
Hopefully we can get it work a little more often. |
Re: Climb and Dump Club
After looking at the scout data, at CT team 236 climbed/dumped in about 40 sec. They climbed/dumped in 7 out of 9 qualification matches.
|
Re: Climb and Dump Club
Add 190. They do it well and it looks good too :)

Team 3496 Climed and dumped every time @ buckeye Regional. All the way thru to the last match of the qurterfinals. We had 340 Climb points at the end. Not bad We also had 210 @ cinci last week.
Super disaponted at the refs @ buckeye. Realy bad calls in Qurter final. any one else have any problems. Alot of teams not returning. |

Here's 179 at the South Florida Regional with a Climb and Dump at >18 Seconds:

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Team 3496 can climb and dump in 40 seconds, this time including line up.
Sorry, the picture doesn't show us making a dump :( |
Re: Climb and Dump Club
CT regional Q67 saw 2170 climb and dump for 50 points in about 26 seconds. There was a bobble in there too, so climbing could be faster, I suppose. I have split the feed from 230's stream, here.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Team 4294, Star-TREC demonstrated some climbing and dumping at the Troy District event. I can't remember how long it took, though. I remember it didn't take very long.
|
Re: Climb and Dump Club
Here is 3196 doing it at Smokey Mountains. We also did it at Palmetto and North Carolina. Occasionally the last frisbee falls out like in this video. we probably average around 30-40seconds for the climb and dumb. I think our fastest climb was around 20seconds

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Hopefully this isn't too off topic but has any robot completed an assisted climb (like shown in the kickoff video)?
|
Re: Climb and Dump Club
I believe 2374 was the only robot in the Northwest to climb and dump. They didn't always dump all 4 in successfully, but when they did it was cool!
Once they obtained the colored discs and returned to the pyramid, I think they could climb in around 15-20 seconds. The dump was delayed for a while, I believe they needed to wait for enough compressed air to dump. It made the tension rise and the Wambo Combo was all the more exciting! |

Re: Climb and Dump Club
You can add team 358 to the climb and dump club as well. The Robotic Eagles of Hauppauge NY did it well enough to win the SBPLI Long ISland Regional this past weekend.
Oh yeah, they also took home some other hardware, something called the RCA. Watch for them at St. Louis |

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Team 236 the Techno Tics climbs by means of twin 1/2-2 lead screws, the lead nuts are driven and attached to the robot frame. The inner rails we call the tail never touch the carpet. The robot climbs up the inner rails, reattaches with the outer hooks, and "tail drags" to the next level and starts all over again till we reach the top. If all goes well we should climb a little faster at St. Louis. See you there.

Can someone make a sublist of Climb/Dump teams that will be at CMP?

Re: Climb and Dump Club
We (Team 3309) we're able to improve our times and consistency a lot in Las Vegas. We were averaging about 25 seconds for a 30 point climb and dump. In this particular match, we were about (a little under?) 30 seconds from the time we started.

Has anyone joined the dump but no climb club?

I have watched a number of robots try and shoot colored discs from the ground (3003, 51 among others) I have seen none of them score all four of them. We managed to get 1/4 at Buckeye and will be taking another crack at it in St. Louis. In fact, this brings up the interesting question of why the GDC gave us 6 colored discs. Has anyone managed to score all 6 of them? The only use I can think of is if there were two climb and dumpers on an alliance. Shooting them from the ground makes no sense as an entire cycle for only 2 more discs is silly. |

Re: Climb and Dump Club
3309 was a very impressive climber + dumper at Vegas, as was 4146.
25 was able to do 20 point climbs during matches, and 30 point climbs on the practice field. In the playoffs they came out sporting an interesting looking mechanism that might be worth watching at the World Championship. ;) |

Re: Climb and Dump Club
From what I saw of 236's hanger, despite how it looks the black leadscrew is neither touching the ground at level 0 or the corner at level 1. It is not pushing off of anything. There are hooks pulling on the corner as with almost every other corner climber this year.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
1619 was able to climb and dump this weekend. They took a few spills, but the damage never seemed fatal. The climb was somewhere in the range of 20 seconds, but the lineup time was sometimes over a minute, or couldn't be fit into a match.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
:o Chris is me is correct, the Team 236 robot tail ( inner rails and lead screw assembly ) never touches the carpet it is suspended by a hook at the top of the device,so upon docking we are touching the 30 horizontal bar (zone 1 ) and the floor (zone 0) we never contact the vertical bar above zone 1. As soon as the bot clears the floor we are only in contact with zone 1 until the outer hooks grab the 60" horizontal bar, we are now in contact with zone 1 and 2. we now drag the tail until the hook grabs the 60" bar and only in contact with zone 2. Repeat all of above to score 30 points.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Sir Edmund, of 2170, climbed and dumped in QF4-1 of the CT Regional between 57 and 34 seconds remaining. (= approx 24 sec.) There were several bobbles in it, so the potential for faster climbing is there. Alignment time was not great either. We have a camera on board, but I'm not sure how useful it is for alignment. This climb attracted the attention of the opposing alliance, who intervened effectively in the second match to frustrate our driver's attempt to get to the pyramid.

Took 23 seconds for 3 discs, if we had 1 more second the 4th would have shot. Have done it as quick as 21 seconds in previous matches with 3 discs, when the 4 disc did not get loaded. Settle at 22-24 seconds? |

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Though a few times they only did a 20 pt climb, Team 358 (SBPLI Chaisman's Winners and Regional Champions), The Happauge Robotic Eagles, could climb for 30 pts and dump for an additional 20. I'd say it was a rather impressize machine to watch.

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Comparing this thread to the list of teams registered for CMP at this time indicates the following climb and dump robots at CMP (with reported climb time):
67 (21) 88 (45) 95 (50) 103 190 236 (30) 358 1114 (20) 1334 (30) 1421 (30) 1448 (50) 1714 1806 (25) 1918 (30) 2481 (40) 3339 (60) 4451 (30) This thread identifies 35 climb/dump robots. I'd say 16/35 is a pretty good success rate. |
Re: Climb and Dump Club

http://watchfirstnow.com/archive3.php?id=63000921 line-up is still slower than 1114 (getting faster), but if you count the time to take to dump, 1334 is faster than 1114, watch this video where we race them up the pyramid, we are simply waiting there on top while 1114 unloads their disks: http://watchfirstnow.com/archive3.php?id=63005133 I would say that our whole climbing sequence is around 20 seconds, not 30, 15+5 as we do take a couple seconds to tilt the robot to the correct angle before we lift off the ground. |

1421' s fastest climb and dump time is 21 seconds. That time was made at the Razorback Regional!

Re: Climb and Dump Club
Team 1810 can be added to the list, we were in curie, but often did not get noticed. We had a three point shoot in autonomous, but we often only made 2 of the 3 discs. Our climb took some time, but it had more to do with the fact that we ended up making our climb autonomous, as in we programmed it so our drivers would just get under the pyramid, press a button, and our robot would climb and dump.
