First wheel is 10:42 and second wheel is 12:36.

The other nice thing is the pulleys are small enough that they fit through the locating hole for the motor. Motor's can be replaced without removing the pulley.

I'm wondering about the rocking after 5 seconds...if it's occupying space in zone two, wouldn't that knock it down to a 20 point climb?

Edit: Poofs responded on Facebook, saying Even when it rocks, it's in level 3. It's just very hard to tell due to the angle of the camera.

I believe the score is taken at 5 seconds after the match, or when objects come to rest, whichever comes first. So hopefully they stop rocking relatively fast.

As for the video...blinked and had to watch it again :rolleyes:

Even if it is, the "5 seconds" gives the benefit of the doubt to the team. Even if it was slightly in zone 2 at 5.0 seconds, it probably wasn't at 4.9 or 5.1 seconds.

I agree with the above post, that rocking is going to be a slight issue if you can't stabilize it, quickly. Very Impressive climb, I like how it looks pretty easy to align for. Nice Work.

Good point. I've really only seen the 5-second issue come to play when the robot was rocking on level one and repeatedly hitting the ground - typically that invalidates the climb.

Plus, see the edit to my previous post - they say it's not even an issue.

The amazing combination of mechanical design and software implementation on this climber are jaw dropping. It simplifies down to "wow that is a fast climber" but there is so much going on to make that happen its awe inspiring.

Awe inspiring work as always.

I am most interested in learning about how the climb is software aided. Specifically I am wondering about how you ensure you line up correctly with the 30" bar to ensure you don't "run out of real estate" by 90", and what sensors/control techniques are used to activate the arm retraction at the correct instant. I am guessing a gyro in the pitch axis, along with vision aiding for horizontal alignment.

Also, does the software ensure the arm doesn't extend during the portion of the swing that would angle the arm outside of the pyramid?

Do it in less time than Team 1114 DURING competition. Then you will truly beat them for fastest climb.

Other than that, im very impressed. Is this automated or human done? if automated do you trust that?

It has to be autonomous. I would not trust a human with the precision needed for their climber. You will see if they trust it at SVR ;)
