Re: Offseason Events Database

I am a volunteer with the committee that is running the off-season FIRST event, Battle O Baltimore (September 20).

I have been tasked with researching awards at similar off-season events elsewhere. So, can you tell me, for your event, what awards you are giving and the criteria? We would also greatly appreciate knowing what you have found to be not terribly successful.

Thanks very much,

What have other events used to protect floors during competition? What have you used that has worked? What have you done that didn't work?

It is not too late to consider another off-season event. Cowtown Throwdown is a great time in Lee's Summit, MO. We are just outside Kansas City and welcome all comers. We have several openings available and like to have new teams join us. It is on Halloween this year. It should be a fun time. Look at the website and see if you are able to join us.

I wish my team would have seen this thread sooner. We are having the first annual Gitchi Gummi Get Together next Saturday. It's being hosted by Team 2512 the Duluth East Daredevils, in Duluth MN. I added it to the spreadsheet. Unfortunately, considering it's next week it's sorta out of the question for new teams to come. However, if it sounds interesting please keep it the back of your brains for next year.

You can stay posted through our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Daredevils2512

We use massive tarps over our gym floor, and it's worked pretty well. You just have to be moderately careful about dropped bolts etc. not getting stepped on.

Quite a few off-season events are now listed on the official FIRST calendar. This makes it easy for teams to see them if they do not get on Chief Delphi or if they are not well known.

Post-season bump. If you are running an offseason competition this year, please have it added to this spreadsheet and the official FRC calendar.

Does anyone have any info on Battlecry this year? Usually by now we've heard from them for early registration, but I know they are hosting NE District Champs.

Just a curiosity. ::rtm::

So in digging through the FIRST link, I end up here

http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...eason%20Events

And they are all from 2014. Nate, since you posted this do you know someone that can clean the old dates out?

I get asked by outside groups (4-H, Scouts, etc) about where to look for robotic events. I send them to Robotevents.com I don't know if that's a good source for off season FRC events. (It has some abilities to manage team lists, etc. it may be a help for some teams holding off seasons.)

I would guess that the FIRST staff isn't interested in updating this until after CMP-- which is perfectly understandable. The page instructs you to contact FRCoffseason@usfirst.org with your calendar requests; I would bet that Hannah Foust is the FRC staff member monitoring that account.

Robotevents.com is an outstanding website, but I'm not sure FRC offseason events fall within the site's scope.

I know there has been talks on team 1405, that we are not satisfied yet with our robot. We will be searching out some closeish and cheap off-seasons for the robot to go to!

Re: Offseason Events Database

Once again The Gitchi Gummi Get Together will be hosted by team 2512 August 14-15 in Duluth, MN. Our goal is to have lots of matches, have lost of fun, and train in new team members into competition roles. We expanded this to a two day event with the hopes of getting more teams and having large amounts of matches similar to last year. If you are interested and want more information you can refer to the spreadsheet of heck out the link:
