We were attempting to make a blocker for 2010 but we couldn't make a blocker that blocks from two directions in time.
The reason we needed a two-directional blocker like the one we had is because we found that defensive robots protecting a full court shooter tend to force a bot to turn sideways.
Not only that but we lost the quarterfinals in Milwaukee due to not efficiently blocking a full court shooter. Over spring break our driver and I, (our shooter) practiced some defensive strategies against full court shooters and a defensive bot. We had the most experience against them on our alliance.

Thanks for the explanation! I must admit, that was an effective blocker. I expect so see more like it when you know the defense can get you turned 90 degrees.

I was wondering why it was an "L" shape. You played very good defense and it was fun driving against you.

A big congratulations to the winning alliance, FIRST Teams 71, 2512 and 2709. This alliance really showed the synergy that makes a Champion alliance. None of the teams was the highest ranked, but having the decimating cross-field shooter, a splendid robot to defend the cross-field shooter, and a robot with excellent field scoring capability and a reliable 30 point climb freed up by the first two robots proved to be an unbeatable combination. Very well done, and it was exciting being beaten by you! I suspect we will see this type of alliance(s) on Einstein.

It was very fun competing against you! You had us scared in those
last couple matches and for a good reason. You had a great robot and a great alliance.

And congrats to UPS on the Chairman's Award win, we will see you at championships.

Thanks guys! This was by far our best season yet, but ofcourse we were no match for the unstoppable 71, 2512, and 2709. Congrats guys. We'll try to put up more of a fight next year!

1) I am such an idiot! :ahh: My apologies for neglecting to congratulate the Electric Eagles in my first post. I think the #1 ranked team representative should get one of those big #1 pointing index finger foam hands!
2) I have posted video of UPS winning the Chairman's award at:
