Autodesk Vault
I have been looking into a CAD file system such as Autodesk Vault.
I found this thread, however it is fairly old and I was wondering if anyone had information on how to go about getting access to vault or what the next best available system is. Thanks |
Re: Autodesk Vault
Autodesk Vault comes free with AutoCAD Electrical and assume with Inventor. This free version will save old versions and make sure that changes are not lost when used properly.

Re: Autodesk Vault
If I understand correctly, Vault can be used to "check out" parts. This allows for multiple people to work on a robot without having multiple people working on the same part. Vault may come with Inventor, but how do you host a server for it?

Re: Autodesk Vault
I believe the Vault client comes free with Inventor (and probably other software), but you may have to contact Autodesk directly and inquire about the Vault server. I think that's what we did when we were looking at CAD file management. Ultimately we went with SolidWorks and PDM because one of our mentors has way more experience with SolidWorks and PDM.

Re: Autodesk Vault
The application does come with inventor, if you would like to create a server you have to talk to autodesk directly. This is the contact I used (phil.dollan@autodesk.com) which I fount in another thread somwhere. He has supplied us with a download of the vault server software so I would contact him if you are interested. Thanks for the help.
