The web pages have been being wonky for days. The division pages specifically were throwing some random errors about two nights ago. I just keep waiting for my text message...

1114 has a 1.00 chance of being on the same field as 1114. 2056 has a 0.25 chance of being assigned to each field. Since one of the 4 has 1114, the total chance is 1.00*0.25= 0.25 If you want to pick a particular field, then it is another 1 in 4 chance, so total is one in 16. Back in Atlanta, I think they used to pick the two 'strongest' divisions to be on the side facing the VIP areas in the arena. That was Galileo and Archimedes, IIRC. I think this is one reason behind the curie curse. |

Anyone want to tell me why http://aredivisionsoutyet.com/ is throwing a 500 internal server error? :O

All divisions are stacked with talented teams. It's like this is a really big event or something. I wish you all success. |

I know of at least one team that has been given an invite and in the process of accepting that is not on that list.

Re: championship divisions?
I'm loving the archimedes division right now, with 20, 33, 71, 254, 469, 973, 987, 2590. Lots and lots of floor pickup. We will probably even see another 90 point autonomous.
Curie looks pretty good too, although very different. They have a few high profile floor pickups: 233+359+2056. But they also have 2 of the best fcs: 67+148, as well as 1 of the best cyclers: 1717. |
Re: championship divisions?
Got the text... :) 1241 is on Galileo... should be a blast! Thanks for the frcmega text updates, really appreciated it when being at school while the team competed!

Re: championship divisions?
13 Florida teams
4 Newton 3 Curie 1 Galileo (Poor Lonely Shark Attack) 5 Archimedes Adding in teams that qualified for a slot in Florida (1772 Brazil, 4091 Dominican Republic, 4451 South Carolina) 5 Newton 4 Curie 2 Galileo (Shark gets their Brazilian Alliance Partner) 5 Archimedes |

See attachment. I was bored. I'm sure awesome gee whiz scouting spifftasticness will be published by others eventually.
Very basic, but at least somewhat orderly. I used a copy of the OPR Results tab from Ed Law's spreadsheet to grab the Max OPR's. |

I'm sure Zach will use the FMS page in the future. FRCMega has been a great addition to our community created apps & services. FMS page would be easier to parse for the an SMS generating script anyway, since it is designed to be parsed by a computer. I personally use the FMS pages all the time anyway. They are way easier to paste into spreadsheets and always on 1 page. |
Re: championship divisions?
Has anyone been able to figure out an algorithm for the division assignments?
There seems to be a pattern in that international teams are grouped in specific divisions. Israel: 2 each in Galileo, Newton, and Curie. Mexico: 3 Archimedes, 2 Curie, but 1 Newton. Australia: Archimedes, Galileo Netherlands: Galileo Turkey: Newton. Brazil: Galileo By Team Number: ACANGAGAGCNGAANNNGCGNGCNGANNCNCGNANNNNGCNNNGNCCCAG AACGNNAAAAGGNNGC Any guesses? |

But Just to add Canada has 27 teams: 2 Archimedes 8 Curie 10 Galileo 7 Newton While the Dominican Republic team is in Curie |

My bad. I was too lazy to parse the Canadian teams. Again, my bad. Nonetheless, what do you think the powers that be used as an algorithm? In the past it was a simple ACGN repeating, this year... IDK. Is there a pattern of Regional winners being equally spread through the divisions? |

I understand that the FIRST site has more people trying to access it than CD. Adding in the various scrapers that people write, it must have a lot more traffic. Here's the real point: FIRST should know that, and have the appropriate capacity. There was an implied sarcasm tag on my post.... |

Re: championship divisions?
So time for more useless data:
The combined team numbers for each division is: Archimedes: 207649 Curie: 242674 Galileo: 232662 Newton: 211761 Meaning if you average the team numbers you get the following: Archimedes: 2076 (2007 Team) Curie: 2427 (2008 Team) Galileo: 2327 (2008 Team) Newton: 2117 (2007 Team) Which implies that Archimedes and Newton average 7 years experience per team while Curie and Galileo average 6 years based on team numbers (I am going through to get the actual years of experience per team to see what the actual result is since numbers don't equal years of experience when you are talking about less than 500) |
