[FF]: 2013 IRI Auction DRaft

Gonna get the sign up started early.
I don't care if there's 60 or a hundred teams. I'll start taking in people early and split the difference to a Saturday and Sunday draft if I have to.

Scoring for the event goes as follows:
Winner = 25 points
Finalist = 20 points
Semi Finalist = 15 points
Quarter Finalist = 10 points

Seeding points goes as follows:
20....1st seed
12....2nd and 3rd seed
6......4th through 8th
3......9th through 12th
2......12th through 16th

I was going to get cute and add points for where your team got picked but then I lost interest.

I'll use the WORLD RANKINGS ran backwards as the ranking list (unless someone wants to go to the trouble of doing it via these teams average FF score instead). If you can't take the time to show for the draft you don't deserve to get a top tier team. Simple as that.

Two questions:
Have we decided if we are doing it on CD or over another website yet?
If we decide to send in a list instead of doing the whole live, do we just assign max values to each team?

How does drafting work if you have purchased all 3 teams before your time slot? For instance, in the Saturday draft I have slots 10, 25, and 44. If I happen to buy 3 teams before the draft reaches my 3rd spot, do I still nominate the team to be bid on but potentially offer it starting at $0? What if no-one bids? Do I get a 4th team or will someone else just not get a team?

This goes as well for what happens if I buy my first team at $98, but then the teams I nominate for $1 go for higher bids. Could I be stuck with only 1 team? (I think in theory if my $0 bid question is correct, then there would be some left over teams I could potentially bid $1 for....) This question would be of extreme importance to late round drafters.

If you use up $98 on one pick (a move I would highly recommend against). You can get your last two teams for a buck but it'll probably be two teams you don't want. Everyone will have three teams by the end of the draft.

What happens if you're missing a team by the end of the draft? Say I purchased two teams for $95, and every team up to and after my third time slot went for more than $5, making impossible for me to get another team via the auction.

Yes it can. Let's say at the end of the draft I need one more team. How is the team assigned? It's not a lack of teams that's the problem, it's the lack of me getting a bid that I want/could afford.

If you don't have two more teams then I tell you to pick two more teams. It's simple as that.

Is it possible that i could switch with someone to the sunday draft, it works out a lot better for me and i'd rather not have to send in a list

Beforehand but if you do it now open bidding lasts til 12:05 pm Saturday. That gives people alot of opportunity to think about your pick (unless you put down $98. Then the point is moot).

One VERY important rule I wish to bring up before the drafts this weekend. When it is your turn to pick you have one minute to submit your candidate(for a $1 bid. There's no need to be completely ruthless about it and put up a $98 bid for a team you don't really want). If you do not I will call a DELAY OF GAME penalty on you and submit a candidate for you and you cannot change that selection. You will not be allowed to hold the draft hostage and submit a pick for 469 for $1 at the last minute so no one else gets to bid on them. That's not happening. If this is a problem I would suggest submitting a list or be ready to submit your selection on time.

Also please don't go submitting bids in the other drafts. Nothing annoys me more than disrupting the drafts. If you cannot resist the urge to act the fool you can expect to lose your draft spot and be relegated to the bottom of your draft.

I have decided if you fill up your alliance before your picks are done I will just leave the draft spot vacant but I cannot change the times because people may be going by their scheduled time and may come onto CD when they are due up. It would not be fair to switch their times on them.

When you guys post a bid in the draft do something like this: (example) Koko Ed bids $98 on 1114.
And you can BS in the draft thread if you like (I did not have a separate chat place set up. I am very tech basic so I am not very chat savvy. sorry.

I'm going to have to submit a list because I'm busy at draft time.

Quick question: Say I submitted a list with teams like this (not my actual list):

4814 - $90
2826 - $80

Say the first bid was $10 for 4814. Would I automatically bid $90, or a smaller amount? Could I put a series of amounts to bid for that are under my max bid?

When it's my turn, do I start with my maximum bid for the team I want? If 2826 were around I'd start the bidding at $80?

Clinton suggested using Goggle Docs which I never used before for the draft.
Other have suggested a chat room.
I have to look over so many documents when a pick comes up I don't think it's possible.

Yup you just can't use lists for this kind of thing or time slots. Everyone just needs to commit 2-3 hours to be in a chat room. I don't see any other way it can work.

An Excel spreadsheet in Google Docs is the exact same as Excel itself, it just can't do everything that Excel can do.

We can have people put their choices into an Excel sheet which could be shared by Google Docs- Ed can copy and paste the columns as he wishes into a single document which he can reference to.

Honestly, I would recommend a chat room too. The 47 second rule is killing everybody's pick here- you have to time it at the right time, which is pretty dang hard...

Ed, a chatroom would work great if you make it mandatory that people show up and kick them out if they aren't present for the start of the draft. You don't even need to schedule times, just an order. Auctions could go until people are done bidding. The whole thing would go 2-3x faster. Also easier on you (no looking through 10 different lists).

I think we would need a curated Excel sheet for future auctions...

Like:

Column A

Column B

Column C

Teams

Min. Bid

Max. Bid

And then maybe an option to whether one would go full out on a bid, adjusting accordingly for the amount they already have.

Say:
JimJoe has $70 with team A he paid for ($30).

He would like team B very badly, so he checks the option mentioned above so he can bet $69 flat for it.
