Re: Robot names and Team mottos

2012- Floemotion

Our principal's name is Mr. Floe so we decided to name it after him

2013- !Paul (not Paul)

I randomly dubbed the practice robot pail, but people got the practice robot's and the robot's names mixed up because the practice robot didn't have a name. Finally one team member decided to clear it all up and said that the practice robot was Paul and the real robot was !Paul.

2014- G.i.b.b.s.

GiBBS is the Ground Based Ball Sucker, we named all the prototype collection systems (clamshell, bulldozer, etc.) and this was just the best name we came up with for a collection system that compresses balls between the ground and something (rollers, wheels, etc.) and we liked it so it stuck.

Our robot is named SYRUP:
Santa Ynez Robotics Ultimate Program. Our president came up with the acronym and we wanted an excuse to use it.

Our only current motto is: #QuinnSucks. Quinn is our president and this has somehow become a running joke where we use our label maker to stick it everywhere (Quinn does not actually suck).

Congrats on taking the plunge!

Thanks, it wasn't my decision though, I just drop by and help out the team on occasion.

Yes we've been avoiding pneumatics for years because of the weight and time it takes to charge tanks for thier specific purposes.

I think this game is a good fit for pneumatics becuase alliances are only handling one ball at a time during teleop, so there *should* be time to keep the air tanks full for thier next function.

Good luck everyone!!

Considering how our team leader moved to a different school last year... And none of our programming is working... Team #2603's current motto is:

"Nothing is working and we don't know why"

The Robodox are "Engineering a Brighter Future".

Nearly all of our robot names have been doctors. We don't talk about 2007...

2014 - Anesthesiologist
2013 - Medic
2012 - Radiologist
2011 - Chiropractor (and the mini-bot "The Adjustment")
2010 - Cardiologist
2009 - Neurologist
2008 - Physician
2007 - <Default>
2006 - Dermatologist
2005 - Psychologist
2004 - Dentist
2003 - Therapist
2002 - Surgeon, M.D.
2001 - D.O.C.T.O.R

I'm only slightly worried that we've named this year's robot after the person who puts you to sleep...

Coach, Robodox

I believe one of our bunnybots a while back was called Jessica Rabbit.
This years robot is currently unnamed and I highly doubt if we have a motto.

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Since we changed our name to Dragon Robotics a few years ago, all of our robots have been named after dragons. This year, we chose "Maleficent," upsetting many of those who had pushed for "Shyvana". They have therefore taken to calling the robot "Not Shyvana," much to our head mentor's chagrin. They made a label for it and stuck it on the practice bot. Our mentor promptly removed it, but a student recovered it and stuck it on one of our batteries, so the battery was called "Not Shyvana" until our mentor removed that one, too. We recently bought a new tool cart, so some have begun suggesting that we name the cart "Not Shyvana".

Our team motto is "Make it pretty," the logic being that if something doesn't look well-put-together, it's probably not. Some of my teammates make fun of the motto and suggest putting ribbons and lace on the robot.

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Last year, during the FRC build season, we kept drilling and assembling and disassembling and reassembling and measuring and marking and disassembling and reassembling, etc. the same pieces over and over again. when the frame was finally level, we put it in a corner. When we took it out the next day, it wasn't level. I said that gnomes probably came in the middle of the night and tampered with the frame, and the teammate who was working on the frame with me decided they were Russian (I don't know why). From then on, whenever something that was supposed to go right went wrong, we blamed the "Russian gnomes". Thus, this year, we named our FTC robot "Russian Gnome".

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

We named our robot Carrie, because she looks like the snail in Spongebob, whose name is Gary, but I insist that the robot is female (I figure as captain I get to make these decisions :D )

Our team motto is, "It's not ghetto; it's pragmatic."

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Our team has always been "financially challenged". This has led to a former team name "Robo Hobos" and mottos such as "We pay in quarters" and "Two steps forward, two steps back"

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

That ONE Team is an acronym for "Our Next Engineers", our motto is "Playing the water game since 2013". Since we live in Michigan, water is an important resource, and we are dedicated to service projects involving water.

Our robot is fondly called "Tater". The acronym of our team name is TOT, and thus Tater TOT seemed to be a perfect fit. :D

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Our motto is "Created to Create".
Since we are a Christian school we have included a book of the Bible, usually referring to an aspect of build, in the robot name as well as an alternate nickname.
Rookie Year (2013) - Genesis AKA Carl (Genesis refers to it being our first robot :D)
2014 - "Leviticus AKA Leviathan" (Leviticus because several times we had to change our design because the rules didn't permit it and Leviticus is the book of the law :yikes:)

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Our robot names have been simple male names since Rebound Rumble. There has been:
Paul(an omni practice drive train)
Steve(Rebound Rumble)
Charlie (Ultimate Ascent)
Mike (Arial Assist).

As for our motto, I believe it is "We are the answer to life, the universe and everything.... squared"

Our robot doesn't have an official name right now, but our shooter mechanism is called "Nemo's Flipper."

Our KOP bot is referred to as "The Ankle Biter."

Re: Robot names and Team mottos

Team 2408's robot's name this year is b.O.s.s. (Big Ol' Sphere Slinger). Unfortunately, we weren't able to vote on a name this year.

Personally, I hate to say it, but the name sounds too generic to me. Oh well, rather not waste time on names.
