2013 Championship OPR/CCWM spreadsheet

The scouting database for 2013 Championship is now available at

http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2174

There are a number of changes to the version after Week 7 events

1) Division data for 400 teams
2) Links set up for all 4 divisions for those who use Cntr-Shift-P to do automatic update at the event. If the link does not work, PM or email me or stop by our pit in Galileo division
3) Number of events attended now includes the championship
4) Alliance selection order is now reported based on the CD thread on Alliance selection. Thanks to Joe Ross who worked so hard to put everything in one convenient spreadsheet

If there is any error, please let me know.

I would love to see how you use these data to enhance your scouting at championship. Please stop by and say hi and show me your scouting system. I would be glad to show you ours. We use tablets -> bluetooth -> master tablet -> laptop Excel spreadsheet. We are in the Galileo division.

I was under the impression that all all wireless networks, including Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11*, and IEEE 802.15.4, were banned from venues on the grounds that they can potentially interfere with the field signals since they all reside inside the same frequency range (2.4 GHz ISM). Did I misread something? Has someting changed? I cannot find any reference in the manuals, but I remember announcements about it from events.

Last I checked, FIRST did not address 802.15(Bluetooth) in the rule book, only 802.11. And this year I did not see anything in the rule book regarding either standard(trust me, I had to make sure that Bluetooth worked for Team RUSH's scouting system right when the rule book came out, and I did not see anything there or in the administrative handbook).

If that's the case, I'm a happy guy. I had wanted to use 802.15.4 to make a comm network from stands to pit using ZigBee.

Try T04

Teams are not allowed to set up their own 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz or 5GHz) wireless communication (e.g. access points or ad-hoc networks) in the venue.

Ed, thank you for all your scouting work. 195 uses your database each season to understand the stats for robots in our division. We can't thank you enough for all you do for ALL FIRST teams.

As Zigbee isn't a 802.11 standard (it is 802.15.4), couldn't you still set up the network anyhow?

Presumably you could.

It may be worth noting however, that the FTC wireless system runs on the 2.4GHz band and last year they were using wireless sniffers to identify and shut down any 2.4GHz networks at the Championship.

That's interesting. Do you know what kind of wireless sniffer they used? Some can see the whole 2.4 Ghz frequency while others can only see 802.11 networks

Well, that eliminates almost all standard wireless protocols with the 2.4GHz and 5GHz note. However, 802.15.4 has ten channels down in the 700-900 MHz range that aren't prohibited... Now to just find a device that works in that range...

Re: 2013 Championship OPR/CCWM spreadsheet

I found a potential problem with the links to update the data automatically in the 4 divisions in version 1. It has double links so it gets the data for the regional I copied the cell from and also the division. This explains why last year's spreadsheet had issues with links and I had to completely delete all the links and start again. If you don't know what I am talking about, don't worry about it.

If you plan to update the data automatically at the Championship by pressing Cntr-Shift-P and you have problem with the link, download version 2 and it has a better chance it will work. I will try out the links as soon as the links are up on the FIRST website. Excel is so complicated. I learn something new everyday.

They use Metageek Wi-Spy Pro. They can detect anything within the 2.4Ghz-5Ghz band. Bluetooth is actually a filter setting in the interference filters.

So my recommendation. If you think it could cause a problem. Don't do it.

Re: 2013 Championship OPR/CCWM spreadsheet

Version 3 is out with the Championship data.

1) World ranking is updated with championship division qualifying matches
2) On the OPR and CCWM Results tab, championship division is not included because some of the options is to project it to that week. So if max OPR is used, it does not include data from this weekend. However it is very easy for you to change that yourselves.
3) This will be the last update this year unless there is an error.

I don't see the data for Curie winners when searched in Query.

Ed Law 28-04-2013 15:03

Re: 2013 Championship OPR/CCWM spreadsheet

Curie data was wrong on my spreadsheet. It was pointing to the wrong competition. I will fix it and publish again as soon as possible.
