Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
Hello, everyone! Our team has been having issues getting our robot connected to our driver station since we got back from regionals. We tried multiple times to reset our robot radio, but it refuses to connect outside of an FMS connection or ethernet tether. I would also like to mention that this computer has never connected to the robot other than the above mentioned circumstances, as Greg McKaskle gave to us at competition in exchange for our old one so that he could figure out why it was slow.
Any help would be appreciated! |
Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
Resetting the radio is necessary after a competition, since it gets locked for security.
Did you follow the Instructions for Home Use? Did you reset your radio using the recessed button on the back of the case? Did you browse to the radio and change the default settings to match your robot? Can you see the radio broadcast SSID from your laptop? Is your laptop 2.4GHz/5 GHz compatible? Matching settings of the radio? |
Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
I have reset the radio using the recessed button, and reconfigured it using the 2013 FRC radio configuration tool. I can see the SSID from the laptop. It is a classmate, so I have the radio on the AP 2.4 Ghz mode. What exactly do you mean by "browse to the radio and change the default settings to match your robot"?

Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
You can browse to the radio to verify that the settings are what are necessary for your site.
When the SSID appears in your Classmate's wireless list, is the Classmate set to connect to it automatically? Are there other local wireless access points that the Classmate is set to connect to automatically? Can you successfully connect wirelessly to the radio? Can you browse to the radio? (just to verify that the wireless connection is operating properly.) |
Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
The classmate is set to connect to the SSID automatically. There are other access points that it is set to connect to, but they are all 5+ miles out of range. I can successfully connect to the radio, but the driver station can not connect to the robot. I am not sure that I can browse to the radio. Going to 10.43.01.2 does not bring up any results. Is this what you are talking about, or does the radio have a different IP address?

Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
Your radio will be at 10.43.1.1
Browse to it and check that the settings look reasonable. The cRIO is at .2 You might also verify that your Classmate wireless settings are compatible. P.S. You can use "arp -av" from a DOS window to see what's connected to your Classmate. And "ipconfig /all" to see what your Classmate network settings are. |
Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
When your laptop is connected to the SSID on the robot, what does the diagnostic screen of the DS look like?

Re: Driver Station Cannot Connect to Robot
I apologize for taking so long to respond, but there was standardized testing. Apparently the issue was that under the diagnostics panel on the DS, I had the wireless settings set on "I will configure my wireless network manually". I changed that to the automatic setting, and it pretty much fixed itself. Thanks for all the help, everyone!
