It should start soon, but basically, while waiting for Einstein to begin, you have over 1000s of the smartest, nerdiest HS kids in America sitting around in a football stadium (with plenty of leftover fliers/scouting sheets) and nothing to do but make their own fun. You do the math :P

I, for one, enjoyed the multitude of waves last year, ranging from extremely fast, to extremely slow.

It has almost become a tradition to see some really good paper airplanes made and thrown out over Einstein before matches start. Last year, I believe one of them made it halfway across the arena.

1477, however, definitely was not a comm issue. They have crazy LEDs that were off, so their robot was off, probably from a hit. Same for 1678, they got hit, then were off. Then they moved a bit, but then couldn't move.

Apparently they shot in autonomous. Their auto consists of shooting+a piston on the ground that angles their whole robot upwards, so I assume during that motion it became disconnected.

Quote:

254 points
for Newton, lets do the math:

There were 164 Teleop points curtsey of the twitter feed from only two robots.

164/3 = approx. 55 discs
(meaning something was scored not in the 3 point goal, but lets just say they all were because that gives the best case scenario to Newton)

Now divide that by 4 to get the amount of trips.
55/4 = approx. 14

Saying that there were only two robots operational to put that up that much, that means that each had to average 7 trips (28 discs) in two minutes AND make every shot. Also, remember sabotage needed at least the last 30 seconds to climb. Even though one of the robots on Newton has a pickup, they would have had to put up a LOT of discs, and this just doesn't add up to me.

Does anyone else think this is fishy or is it just me? But if it isn't, major props to Newton, that was amazing.

EDIT: They re-scored it and Galileo won. Math prevails. Actual score is Red: 200 Blue: 225

I don't think getting 14 cycles off with 2 robots is possible, especially with a team that has to take 30+ seconds to climb. that would mean 3476 did 8 or 9 cycles alone, and the max that anyone has ever done is 7, which was with 610 and little to no defense. I think there must be some miscount in scores or something.

Nope. OTOH, this isn't the first time this season--Portland, wasn't it, that found a red disc in a goal after a match that didn't get counted, and that changed the winner entirely.

And it's the second year in a row there's been an issue on Einstein. This time, guaranteed field personnel fault, not a robot problem. (Though there have been a couple of robot issues, I'm pretty sure they haven't been related to comms this time around.)

Perfect 7-disc autonomous plus 2 3-discs by 1477-610-1241.

Last known score was 165-205 in favor of Galileo.

And the torch has passed on to 1241 and 610 for Canada, and 1477 for Texas.

Amazing, amazing plays all around.

Well, last year there was a general thought that "hth could 16 slip so far in the draft?"

This year? In spades!

HTH!!! Could 610 slip so far into the draft?!?!? Incredible steal of a pick!

Hey does anyone remember what match Andy Baker MC'd on Galileo and if it was with 610 1477 and 1241 in it. If so he picked to MC the match with a world champ twice in a row :P

Awesome set of matches on Einstein, and a great advert for the program.
Congrats to 610, 1241 & 1477

I'm a bit late replying but the FMS twitter feed shows that 6 of the 20 teleop scores were not multiples of 3.

(One of those is the erroneous score from SF2-2, but assuming the 54pt mistake was in teleop, the corrected score would still not be a multiple of 3)

That was fantastic!
I'm a rookie, and this was my first time watching the championships live. 610, 1477, and 1241 were so amazing. I had no idea alliances could work together so seamlessly. Also, the number of people at the event was stunning.

Special congrats to all the foreign teams for coming this far, especially 2630: The Thunderbolts! I met them at the D.C. Regional when I accidentally stumbled into their pit, and they were, by far, the most enthusiastic team there. I'm so proud of them for making it into the quarterfinals. (Also, I'm stoked for Team 422: The Mech Tech Dragons! Their 'burning ambition' really paid off, getting off the wait-list and then coming in 20th for the Galileo Division? AWESOME! Blaze it, Dragons!)
