Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery
Incredibly well deserved. My students love to hear about what is going on with Curiosity, well maybe they like the break from chemistry for a few minutes. Regardless, I am sure the entire FIRST community is standing and applauding. We appreciate and are always in awe of what you do...in only six weeks.

Congratulations Mr. Dave Lavery! You're an inspiration to us all, and we stand up and salute your achievement (As well as applaud it!) (You're also one of the few signatures missing in my book.) |
Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery
Thank you all for the comments. The award process has been quite unexpected and a bit interesting. It has also led to opportunities to meet some of the coolest people. At the formal announcement ceremony this morning, I got to sit next to a guy from NIST that has spent the last 25 years intentionally burning down buildings - and getting paid for it! And I thought that I had a fun job!

ps. I know a handful of FIRSTers who have gone on to college to learn how not to burn down stuff. University of Maryland offers a degree in Fire Protection Engineering. http://www.enfp.umd.edu/aboutus |
Re: Congrats to Dave Lavery
Well Dave, it's not everyone who has several cars on Mars. We've spoken a few times, and though I can't say I know you, our conversations were always fascinating (for me at least). Not to mention that FIRST thingie you do...

On a more serious note, Dave, you inspire me and the rest of my team. Your dedication to FIRST is awesome, especially considering all that you have to do elsewhere. Thank you, and congratulations on the award! |
