We sent commands to an Arduino which then displayed the appropriate pattern on the LED strip.

We are communicating with an Arduino, which then drives an addressable LED strip. I will have a whitepaper up for this soon.

I'm also not sure if the LED control really needs to be spun off in a thread, but it seemed like the right thing to do to keep it out if the way of the main thread running all the rest the robot control.
