Laser cut? Aluminum? You must have a powerful laser cutter.

We have a sponsor (Solarcraft) that will cut out the parts for us.

Anyone have the link to 148's cart CAD?

I emailed JVN to be able to see their cart CAD. I imagine if you ask him he will be happy to send you it.

The top surface of our cart is a mirror so that we can see under the robot.

This is one of the best ideas I've ever heard. How do you protect the glass from impact damage?

I'm not too entirely sure, someone else on my team would answer that question better. I think it's either a polycarbonate mirror, or a piece of clear plastic is placed over the mirror. I think it's just a polycarbonate mirror, though.

I'm just really hoping for a cart reveal video when this is completed.

I remember that some team made a release video for their cart a couple of years ago. It was pretty epic. I think the cart was motorized too...

It's taken a bit longer than we thought to get everything together. We just got the parts back from the laser today.

We might not have them powder coated in time for IRI and TRR.

Wow.

With all honesty, I think it'd be a masterpiece without the powder coating. But it will be with the powder coating too :)

I would really like to just use this design entirely for my teams cart too :p I think we are going to come up with some cart plans though here in the fall. Although this is the most epic looking cart I have seen. It's just so clean.

Sadly it won't be Powder Coated for IRI or TRR but hopefully by Red Stick Rumble.

It looks great as is without the powdercoat. The bare metal may look better than the powder coat after a few years of hard use.

You may want to add a bit of triangulation where the handles protrude from the top deck to prevent the square tubes from bending there when someone tries to push the cart over a bump in the floor a bunch of times.

Dude... you can cut 1/2 steel with a laser. Why would aluminum be a big deal? They're not using a little laser engraver. Metal cutting lasers are very common not to mention one of the best options for cutting out robot parts.
