Team 846: 2013 Season Recap

Ultimate Ascent was a great game, and we had a great season to go along with it. Here's our recap video, made by Raphael Chang, one of the most talented people I know.

We entered our first regional (Boston) without ever having driven Ultimate Funky Object, but finished as the captains of the 3rd alliance and Regional Finalists. We started out unable to even lift ourselves off the ground; we ended at Champs by hanging for 20 points. We're proud of our season, and are eagerly looking forward to next year!

233 and 100 at Silicon Valley

I saw your robot release a day or 2 before the Boston Regional and told a few teammates that I would bet money that Team 846 would be in the Boston finals. I was right.

Great robot and being Pit Neighbors allowed us to see such a great robot up close the whole time. Plus playing with you was a blast.

Kinda upset a 30pt climb was never seen. Maybe for the off-season?

Re: Team 846: 2013 Season Recap

Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't have made that bet myself, but perhaps that just shows that fortune favors the bold.

I definitely see us going for the 3rd level off season; 2nd to 3rd level with our climber is exactly the same as going from the 1st to the 2nd level.

It's pretty hard to line the robot up dead center to make sure we can make the 3rd level however, and we'd rather abort than risk a bad hook engagement and losing our robot. For the offseason, we're going to make some modifications to that hook setup so we can have more side to side tolerance and be much more comfortable with that leap. At that point, we'd more heavily automate the sequence as well so we go faster. We have big dreams for the off season :)
