What to do with pyramid material after the season
So I think we have disassembled our pyramid for the last time and now I have a bunch of black iron pipe to figure out what to do with.
What are others doing with their pipe? Recycle? Craig's list? Dumpster? Yard art? We have a full pyramid built to team drawing specs |

Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season
Ours was chopped up and made into a cart that holds aluminum extrusion. However we're saving 1 corner so that we can demonstrate our 30 point climb.

You could re purpose it as a overbuilt computer station.

Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season
I like the idea of scrapping it. The money you could get could go to your team's funds!
We have scrap metal drives to raise funds for our team. We take over the local scrapyard tearing stuff apart! It's a load of fun, and it's for a good cause! |

Use the pipes as 'motivational' tools for students?
... Or just scrap the pipes if nobody wants em. -Nick |
Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season
What I have learned from my years in FRC:
You can make money on anything SELL IT SELL IT Unless you have a use for it or it is used in a future game. Don't be so quick to get rid of the materials, you might find them useful! |
Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season

You could chop it up and weld it together to make some modern art trophies to give out at any competition based fundraiser.

Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season
Another idea I have his is that you could also use each level as raw material storage. From the floor to the first level could sheets of wood. From the first level to the second level could be used for long pieces of material such as 80/20. From the second to the third level you could use it for scrap pieces that could still be useful. Or on a different note you could cover a side of the pyramid with wood and you could use that as a place to brainstorm or put inspirational messages or safety concepts.

No No No, keep it for next years game.
Just turn it upside down, put a platform on top and play king of the hill.:ahh: Anyone that can make it on top wins if you can get it down after the game ends without climbing up. |
Re: What to do with pyramid material after the season
I was planning of painting our pyramid green, wrapping some old vines around it/grow them on there, and then put a bunch of hanging plants on it. The way the rungs are offset will ensure that all the plants get rainwater and sun. The vines and paint will help it blend in some, once I get it started I will try to post a picture on here to show it. I'm a big fanatic when it comes to yard work and gardening, so the pyramid is going to be fun to use.
