Gopro camera interference?
During our 3 events our media department attempted to put a GoPro 3 black edition on our robot. during some matches it is believed to be the cause of our auto target system being thrown off. then we removed the GoPro but switched out our radio, digital sidecar, all of our CAN controlled jaguars for victor 888s and switched from camera targeting to presets and found the problem resolved. Has anyone tried a GoPro on there robot and if so experienced interference problems from it?

Yes, no problems. Make sure wifi is turned off.

Re: Gopro camera interference?
We ran 2-3 gopros at 4 events this year with no problems. Like Andrew said make sure the wifi is disabled. It makes the field crew happy.

Re: Gopro camera interference?
At the West Michigan and Troy districts we used what I think was the Hero 3 (it didn't belong to the team but rather to a team member who graduated). We were told to make sure the wifi was turned off and we didn't experience any problems with it.

Further more, isn't the GoPro akin to a camcorder? So "interfacing" it to the robot is finding as much duct tape as you can; how would that mess up your targeting system? - Sunny G. |
Re: Gopro camera interference?
As noted above, you did several things, any one of them could have been the solution.
We ran GoPros of many different models all season long without incident. |
