Ohio:

379
2252
128

You decide the order.

#2 Team 1538 Holy Cows: Daisy Thunder was incredible. Good performance at San Diego and great performance at Inland Empire and outstanding performance at Championships.

#3 Team 1717 D'Penguineers: Quick in-perimeter floor pickup, ability to shoot full court, amazing targeting, innovator in control.

If I could pick a fourth, I would definitely say 3476 Code Orange because, I mean, they were on Einstein, great floor pickup, great autonomous, great targeting, you could arguably put them at #2, I admit some bias there.

What about Team 696? ;)

Texas is pretty stacked but the top 3 was pretty clear this year.

TEXAS:
118 - Robonauts - 3 regional winner
1477 - Texas Torque - World Champion
148 - Robowranglers - Einstein Team

Those Texas teams also have some of the best names out there. Unique and descriptive, yet simple and catchy.

In the trivially obvious and no particular order category ...

Delaware:

365 - MOE
1370 - Thermogenesis
(there is no third team in Delaware ... at all...)

Neither team played each other at all this season. We didn't attend the same events, so I cannot really say which was better. Once Duel on the Delaware rolls around, though, there might be some better information... :D

I also haven't seen the Clarkson twins, 229/4124 mentioned for NY yet. They won at GSR with 610 and put up some really high scores in Boston. It was a shame that 4124 was not selected in Curie. These guys and gals also did it all on an extremely limited budget and almost exclusively college students as mentors.

I agree, I believe that they were two of the best cyclers in NY. And who could forget all those talons???

EDIT: Ironically, this was my 229th post.

Thanks for the mention. We strive for success and hope to continue to get better and better each year. This year with our limited budget we decided simplicity was key. We have a group of hard working students who want to learn and get their hands dirty. As a mentor I cannot ask for more.

Well, out team is in Vermont, so there are ONLY three bots in our state!

From what I've hear, 696 had a fantastic robot as well, but I didn't get to see it in person or in action. :(

I'd like to add 1678. You can't argue with seeding first in their division and going on to play on Einstein.

Re: Top 3 bots in your state: 2013

For PA, I'd say...

1. 1640- A consistent, fast cycler with a great 30-point climb. Also, an Einstein appearance doesn't hurt.
2. 341- While not as good as 2012, Daisy still built a great bot. As always, they had a great autonomous and consistent shooter.
3. 222- They are always overshadowed by the more famous MAR teams, but these past few years the Tigertrons have shown they are a powerhouse in PA.

In Washington, we were the only 4 disc+ auto, until Spokane. We did have a fairly reliable auto and it certainly helped us at the regional level. However, we didn't get our 6 disc working until the end of Spokane and didn't implement it in a real match until champs.

We certainly had a slow hang for 10 points. We had originally focused on designing a 30-point climber and didn't have the time to implement it, so we were stuck with what remained.

1983- Skunk works robotics - At the Elensberg Regonal was by far the best defensive bot there also by the time of

Eliminations was scoring hard core as well.

Correct, we did not FCS. We were a cycler with a floor pick-up and we were capable of 5-6 cycles a match. We had a 6WD, with 4 CIMs and dual speed shifting. We can play brutal defense if we have to, but we prefer playing offense. At our first regional, we had a rough start and got to show off our drive train's capabilities.

*I agree with all the PNW teams mentioned before, but I'd also like to add 948. They weren't as versatile as 2471 or 1425 in FCS, but they were the most accurate and had the highest point potential. It was fun playing with all three of these FCS this season. It was interesting to see how differently each of them did an almost identical task and the additional capabilities each of them brought to the alliance.

2168 - Solid 3 disk autonomous, great drivetrain, (as well as a skilled driver who knows how to use its advantages) very fast cycler, and a reliable hang, an all around superb robot they're definitely someone to watch out for in the next years especially as districts roll around.

177 - Again a great 3 disc autonomous as well as a reliable climber, however what really made the Bobcats such a lethal team was their ability to cycle with such accuracy that you don't find in some other tall bots, but they could also full court shooter with extremely high precision when they needed to as well. Not to mention that I can say through experience that they are a very gracious team to work with as we played with them in eliminations of one of our offseason events.

230 - This team has consistently built great robots that are always a threat to be contended with, they have a great 3 disc autonomous, are a phenomenal cycler, could block full court shooters (which unfortunately we had to run into a few times:( ), had a 20 point climb which was rare in other robots. They also use a Mecanum drive train, which even though Mecanum receives a lot of bad rep they were able to use it to their advantages which gave them a whole new side to be lethal with.

195- great full court shooter, can cycle when being defended and shoot from anywhere.
228 very very fast cycler, with an amazingly smart drive team also has last second climb.
Then I would say 177 for the same reasons,
Honorable mentions: 230,and 2168 they where both very very good and could easily be put into the too three.
Conneticut had a lot of good robots this year

Damiaen, you're way too modest. 195 definitely takes the cake for Connecticut – though there were teams not far behind. You guys routinely put up in the ballpark of 100 points on IRI – alone. It's saying something if the presence of your robot directly led 1114/2056/1334 to choose 2337. I was definitely reassured when we ended up being on the same alliance, rather than against each other. :)

The robots listed above are definitely overqualified to be in the top 3. Connecticut fielded so many good robots that the field was incredibly deep at the Connecticut regional. It stinks that we can only pick 3 – which needs changing, if you ask me. ;) But, even so, I'll play by the rules.

177 was another strong competitor this year – they had a crazy drivetrain, FCS ability, and were amazing at both WPI and Connecticut. Not to mention, they have been on Einstein multiple times. My understanding was that they were in the process of making a 30-point climber during the competition season – the addition would have made them the equivalent of 148. Even without it, they put up a ton of points, and ended up ranked 2nd at Connecticut, and secured a win at the inaugural Connecticut State Competition.

228 was known on our team as the orange 610. You guys were quick, agile, and were the best Connecticut cycler – easily. Your showing at Connecticut was extremely impressive, as is the stories of your team's gracious professionalism and coopertition. It's not just metal that makes good bots, it's great teamwork and people who make great bots – like yours.

Yeah we do have a fantastic robot we got invited to IRI and performed above expectations although we did not make it to the Elims.

There are multiple honorable mentions for CA. 973 was very good too, although they didn't seed very high at CMP. I would say they are the best cycler in California.

I don't remember seeing 1717 FCS, though I could be wrong. I know for sure they didn't have one at LA, though maybe they gained the ability later.

They FCS'd at champs and are pretty good at it!

I would have to agree with Micheal.

After 254/1538. 3rd IMO could go to 971/973/1717.All were very very solid!
