Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
I'll be attending D.o.t.D. teamless this year, but will be bringing 2 GoPros and a camcorder with me. If any teams would like a compilation video made for one of their matches with a GoPro on the robot, a GoPro facing the drive team, and the camcorder focused on the robot fieldside, I would love to make some! Either PM me or find me at the competition to let me know. You can check out a playlist of some that I made last weekend at girlPOWER here. See you all in just 3 days! :D

QF 2370 365 375 Congratulations to Teams 341, 1640 and 1089 on your win today. It was a really strong alliance, and it was a lot of fun to watch your matches. Thank you to Team 3974 for picking us and our alliance partners 2607. Our matches were tough, and we almost made a comeback in the end. It was great to compete with you all. I also want to thank all the volunteers for their hard work in running Duel on the Delaware, as well as all who were involved in the planning and organization. Having been more involved in the planning myself this year, I have a better understanding of how much effort goes into an event like this, and am thankful for everyone who was willing to give their time for it. |

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
Many a perennial thanks to MOE, LuNaTeCs and all the volunteers for hosting yet another awesome Duel! This is always such an amazing event, both within and beyond the competition. Special thanks to 836 this year for the control system insight.
Of course thanks and congratulations to Daisy for picking us twice in a row for the win! Plus to 1089 for joining us on this wild ride from 7th alliance; you guys were awesome. Also--seriously--to all the alliances for an epic elims. This was a crazy bracket and I don't think anyone made it easy for anyone! (I mean really, 5 vs 7 in the finals?) In particular to 225, 816 and 369 for a terrifying last set.* I've never seen a fall reverberate through both alliance stations like that. You guys were incredible, and that's not the Finals 2 anyone wants to play. :( Weird I know, but I'd also like to thank the 1640 students. As a coach, I have to say we've been incredibly blessed with these amazing rookie drive teams. (The entire team that drove us to MAR and Einstein hasn't done those jobs at all in the 2 golds and a silver we've managed in off-season.) A special shout-out to our quals and quarterfinalist base driver, who was at her first FIRST event ever. Now there's someone to watch out for! We're all looking forward to what our semis & finals rookie (who raced back from the PSATs) will manage next season. All of the drive teams, the pit crews, and the scouts took the entire frantic juggling process in stride :)--and they got a Hat Trick out of it! Congrats, kids. *By the way, you know an area is jammed-packed with off-seasons when you're looking across the finals handshake at a team you'd just won with less than a month ago. (We'd just played Baltimore with 225, along with 2914, and 339.) Also thanks from our rookie FTC team, 7314, for holding such a great scrimmage. They learned a lot, and the event made a big impact on the rookies. I don't think we could have asked for a better first event--thanks so much! |

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
I was not able to attend the competition but was very pleased by the resolution of the web cast. Yes, there were dropped frames and other problems but the ability to see detail and the clarity offset them. I hope other First events can work on providing good high resolution webcast for the people who can not always attend competitions. Duel was an exciting event to watch. Wish I could have been there.

Good job to 341, 1640, and 1089 on their win. They had a hard road through many difficult matches. We'll see you at Ramp Riot |
Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
Duel was a blast again this year as usual. Big thanks to 1640 and 1089 for being such solid alliance partners. It's amazing to think that all of us had a mix of seasoned and not-so seasoned drive teams in the booth and it worked out as well as it did.
Also, I have to applaud all of the teams that we played throughout elims, you've all shown how much stronger MAR as a region has gotten since the transition to the district system, one could argue that those elimination matches were as competitive as an on-season event. (Though our robots are really, really tired.) Oh, and if anyone here is from 1626, or speaks to them frequently, they left a battery in the Blue Driver's Station at some point, and we found it during the field tear down. We'll have it ready at Ramp Riot, unless they'd like it back sooner, in which case, shoot myself or another 341 Member a PM. Quote:
Build Robot with a High Center of Gravity, Robot Tips over. Looks at robot after the match, laughs about it. See you at RR. (Let's play on the same side again, yes?) |
Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
Huge thanks to Teams 75, 225, 1370, 1640, 3314, and 3974 for letting me GoPro them up on Saturday. Unfortunately the onboard GoPro came down with a sad case of turning itself off suddenly towards the end of the day, so I only got onboard footage of 75, 1370, and 1640 (I really wanted to see the onboard of 225's full court shooter too :(). But, I did get driver station GoPro footage from all 6 teams, as well as camcorder footage focused on their respective robots. Thank you all for being so welcoming, and for the mentor from 3974 who said he watched all of our videos, I'm editing these now and they will be posted on YouTube soon! I'll post an update when they're online.
Also - excellent job to Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Petrillo for the MAR info meeting that went on during lunch. I was amazed at their transparency, and look forward to the changes coming in the 2014 season. Duel was sadly my last offseason for this year, but Team 1676 will be returning back from girlPOWER now two weekends ago at Ramp Riot and Brunswick Eruption next month. |

As one of the remote viewers (yay 1640 on the win!) I want to say thanks to the unsung tech team that made my/our viewing possible. I know that it's hard to get video, audio and reliable network connections to work in an off-season facility. It was a good feed, only a few times with the 2 FPS rates. The match announcers were great, the made it easy to follow the action.
THANKS! |

Were there any other comments anyone would like go give about the webcast? Was Twitch a good provider? How were the camera angles? ect... While it wasn't as important this year because the live scoring was so inaccurate, we will try to get the score overlay working in the future. Does anyone have any tips on how to do that? Right now we just switch inputs to the computer between cam1 cam2 and the FMS. |
Re: OFFICIAL THREAD - Duel on the Delaware 2013
Quote:
As far as doing the live score overlay, you'll need a video mixer that can do chroma-key. FMS can be set to use any color as the chroma-key so that the video feed can be overlayed. If you want more details I'd suggest talking to Frank Larkin of 272, he spec'd and purchased the MAR video equipment. |
