Zero Robotics 2013: CosmoSPHERES
Today the Zero Robotics 2013 challenge was unveiled: CosmoSPHERES. Teams use either gravitational attraction or a charged laser to deflect comets off a collision path with earth. Registration is still open!
Zero Robotics is a programming tournament in C/C++. The first round is a 2D simulation, used this year as a preliminary event. Teams must submit code by September 29th to compete in further rounds, but 2D scores do not count towards those future rounds. The 3D competition qualifies teams for an alliance phase (3 teams per alliance). The alliance phase qualifies for the finals, with SPHERES in flight on the International Space Station! For more info, visit the Zero Robotics website. This is a really fun off-season competition. They recently updated their tutorial section, with great intros to programming and working with their IDE. Good luck to all teams! |
