One of these days , our FLL tourney and IROC won't be on the same day!

We want to do IROC in October for that exact reason, since it also forces our dates for our FLL tournament. Yet VA FIRST is concerned about us putting IROC too close to Robot Rumble. Maybe you and your team can work on them from a different angle for next year? We put on a great show and really want you guys to be able to come!

Anyone have any updates on this event? We've been trying to contact the organizers about participating but have not been successful.

4464 had a blast at IROC this year.

We'd like to thank our alliance partners 3373 and 422. That was one of the best alliances I can recall being a part of, both from my time as a mentor and as a student.

Thanks, also, to 1885 for hosting the event.

2640 had a great time too!

We apologize for not having the opportunity to talk to more of the participants - we had a very small and very "young" group with us (all freshmen and sophomores) and were kept pretty busy just "taking it all in"! Plus - the 3:00 AM Wakeup and 4 1/2 hour drive left us a bit less spirited than we usually are!

Thanks to everyone involved for running such a great event.

Thanks for everyone who participated! All in all it was a great event, with some fierce competition and upsets in elims. We raised over $11k in scored points for a hunger charity donation!

We look forward to expanding the event to 30 teams next year, and hope that just maybe 116 and 612 will finally attend :D (NoVa's best teams are definitely missed each year!).

Warm Regards,
Jesse

Re: IROC 2013 - Nov 2nd, 2013

We had a great time at the IROC. Our rookie drive team showed continuous improvement through the competition. Plus, we finally got our 5 disk autonomous mode to work in a competition setting. As an added bonus, we had our first ever 1st seed position after qualifications.

We were impressed by both the high level of play at the competition, and by the low number of committed penalties. The competitiveness felt more like a regional than an off-season competition.

The innovation of having the 1st seed play the 8th seed 2 robots to 3 robots in the quarter finals was very cool. I'd love to see this model propagated throughout regional competition. It is also cool to be able to pick your third alliance partner after the QF matches finish, giving everyone else a chance to 'resurrect'. We still prefer reverse round robin picking order better than two rounds where the highest seeded teams pick first, though.

All in all, a great event.

For those interested, I have a playlist of matches in which we played here.

There were team photos being taken at the competition. Does anyone know where these can be found online?

Sparky had an amazing time at IROC. Personally as a senior, it was a great off-season event and I'll remember my last off-season event as a student for a very long time!! Our entire team had a lot of fun, so thank you for hosting such a spectacular event! :D

I'd like to see the "official" team photos too...I hope they captured all 23 teams.

You all were great alliance partners! Thanks for competing with us!

Team 422 had a lot of fun at IROC. It was great getting to talk to other teams in the region and I hope my team can make it back next year!
