30,000 hits a day and climbing...

Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems.

Our web site usually runs about 6,000 to 7,000 hits a day during the off season.

Yesterday we broke the 30,000 hit mark and we are still climbing.

I suppose that we will top out at around 50,000.

ChiefDelphi.com is FIRST's online ground zero!

Seems like the income from a couple of banners could fund the whole Chief Delphi team?

Go for the banners Joe! Jim is right, but not only could you fund the entire team, send everyone to nationals and regionals, build a secondary, no, thirdary or fourthary robot as a backup, and host your own regional. But probably the best way would be to do it Lockergnome style. Yknow that guy makes something upwards of 2800 per day by merely sending out a newsletter to peoples emails??? Check it out at lockergnome.com. And yes, I know there is no such word as thirdary. But dont argue with me about fourthary.

Well, they could use banners, but I think Joe would perfer if everyone sent him their empty cans (because they get 10 cents in Michigan compared to 5 everywhere else!)

So send your empty cans to:

ah well, don't be surprise when 30% of those hits are from me... or do you count hits by individual IP address?

so, i had this really big, really in-depth reply going, and then my browser crashed. yay for opera.

anyway...

hits are counted each time any file is loaded.
graphics, html, cgi, etc.

so this page took 4 or 5 hits to load.

our counter in the top corner (000056981) is different.

it counts unique IP addresses, and doesnt count the same one twice until after a set amount of time (30 or 40 minutes i think)

our server will count uniquie visitors, never repeating an ip, i believe.

for the period of Mon->Saturday am, we had 7500 unique visitors who accounted for 253,000 hits.

anyway, hope that clarifies hits, our counter, and the 'real' numbers.

oh, and ken, give me your ip address, and ill tell you how many hits you have. :)
