Fudging some numbers to reflect my expectation that some teams will do better than their averages (100 and 2073 will likely do better than the average they had at Powerhouse Pwnage, and 971 is already doing better than their average I had from Sac).

Rank Team QS AS
1 971 16 430
2 100 14 223
3 1678 12 286
4 2489 12 268

6 1458 10 255
7 3501 10 250
8 115 10 239
9 840 10 236
10 846 10 233
11 4159 10 189
12 604 8 257
13 2144 8 245
14 670 8 233
15 2643 8 218
16 2367 8 217
17 751 8 215
18 2122 8 214
19 2073 8 208
20 1967 8 207

23 668 8 183
24 4498 8 161
25 4186 8 150
26 581 8 149
27 2305 6 172

Congratulations to our champions: 2122 Team Tators, 1678 Citrus Circuits, and 4171 Seaside Spartniks. Also to our finalists: 971 Spartan Robotics, 100 The Wildhats, and 4255 The Robodors.

There were some insane matches that I can't wait to watch over again (dat 971 driving). Thanks for an amazing event everyone!

I'm pretty sure there was, since I was told video would be posted soon.

Re: WRRF CalGames 2013

There are so many great things to say about CalGames that I really don't know where to start. I just keep looking back over the events of the day and can't really believe that it all happened.

First, our qual matches were really a tough time for the team. We kept having little things go wrong (joysticks coming unplugged, one drive motor partially unplugged, bumpers vibrating off) that seemed to be holding us back from our true potential. We only really hit our stride in our last qualification match where we put up some good discs while our alliance partners played some great D against 2122.

Being picked by 971 was an amazing experience. Besides being fun to work with, they all strived to have the best performance on the field possible, and played the game like pros. It was very cool to be able to work with such a high performance team, and really feel like we had earned our place on the alliance. Our alliance only put up less than 100 points in one match, and twice (had one more auto shot gone in in our first match or our battery not fallen out in our last match) could have brought the #1 alliance to a third match. Our partners 4255 played some good D too, and pulled off some great fixes for some of their robot's technical problems.

We faced a lot of amazing competitors, but the two that really stand out in my mind were 2122 and 1678. They're both class acts, and completely blew me away with their teamwork on and off the field. I never thought I'd see my team face two such great teams in the finals, and there are no two teams I'd have rather lost to. I'm really looking forward to seeing 1678 again at Madtown, and hope that 2122 manages to get down into California again soon.

1678 would like to thank all of the organizers, volunteers, sponsors and participants in this year's Cal games. We had a blast and were impressed with the level of competition displayed by so many teams.

971 finally showed us what their robot is capable of. Their 7-disc auto was a thing of beauty and their floor pick up was impressive. Team 100 had a super-accurate shooter and cycled efficiently. It was also great to see 2073's full court shooter in action and 846's mid line auto. Congrats as well to 1351 for getting their 30 point climb and dump and to 1868 for their 20-point climb and dump. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other worthy performances (and I've deliberately left one out) so I apologize to any teams I've not mentioned.

A great big thank you to Team Taters (2122) for believing in us and selecting us onto their alliance. You were an awesome team to work with and helped made the finals so exciting for everyone. Also, thanks to Team 4171 for playing great defense and giving us just that extra edge we needed. Those matches were so close - it could have gone either way. It was an honor to compete against two icons of northern California FIRST robotics (971 and 100).

We are looking forward to seeing some of you again at the Madtown Throwdown and competing against all of the norCal big guns.

Being able to participate in Calgames again this year was great.

As we drove home, it gave us time to reflect on a lot of things that we either missed in the moment or appreciated more with a bit of time. Some of the best parts for us:

1. The Calgames volunteers – really can’t say anything that seems appropriate other than, thank you for all of the work, and the great environment that you created.

2. The chance to volunteer – it helped our folks understand what it takes to put on the event – I would recommend it for everybody who competes in FRC.

3. The fun and positive teams that we got to partner with and play against in qualifications – a few that stood out for us were 2073, 2035, and 4186.

4. The graciousness and warmth of the folks we competed with and against in the elimination rounds including teams 971, 100, and 4255, as well as our partners 1678 and 4171.

5. The chance to eat with and talk with Quixilver on Saturday evening after the competition – we really appreciated their willingness to host us, and the time together.

Thank you all for a great experience,

Thank you all for a great experience,

Having the pit next to these guys..I can tell you that they were REALLY fun and are a really great team. I hope we have the opportunity to compete with them in the future!

It was another great CalGames. Thank you to WRRF, 3501, and all of the volunteers that help put this event together, we look forward to attending again next year.

Congratulations to the winning alliance and finalist alliance. This CalGames was surprisingly very competitive and fun to participate in and watch.

I would like to thank 2144 and 1351 for inviting us to join their alliance. We were very excited to see how the three of us would play in eliminations, as our alliance had a little bit of everything. Unfortunately, our robot was plagued with technical problems after alliance selection, so we had to call in a backup. Speaking of which, thank you to team 3256 for filling in our slot. For those of you that don't know, they were nearly packed up and loading their robot into their van when they got the news that they were needed on the field.

Overall, great CalGames!

I know 971 filmed their matches, maybe all of elims. I don't know when they'll be online though.

Here are some pics now that our robot is out of the trailer and back in the shop. For 2013, a senior designed our first swerve unit so there was a pretty steep learning curve for the team during the season. First pic shows picker arm in raised position. Second pic shows feeder station feed ramp.
