A little more complicated, but I'll figure it out...

ChiefDelphi-

Again proving they are one of the best teams that exist. Congrats on the successful new format.

I agree! But let us learn how to use it...

It is the same feeling I got when Brandon first show me this place... a lot of cool new features that are overwhelming at the beginning.

But, I think I am already getting used to this place. I can totally see people taking advantage of this place a lot more that they used to...

However, I am still concerned that new comers will be intimidated by all these buttons around the web page, and stop posting/visitng because of that. Some of the people who aren't used to computers as much as we do WILL be troubled by everything at the beginning.

So, now that this new forums has gone public, I am hoping that some of us (who posted in the forums a lot) will take this off season period to learn everything in here, and by the time near the competition of 2002, we will be able to help other people out in including this forum as a part of their learning experience in FIRST.

Hopefully we will be learing by experimenting... And you know what that mean: Post a lot in the forums and try everything out!

I agree with everyone. Excellent set up and a huge improvement over the previous version.

I feel right at home since it's similar to the web board Wildstang uses for internal communication, which I spent a lot of time on, evidenced by my 367 posts :)

Now I've just got to post a few more times here to get promoted from a 'Junior Member' to a 'Member'

Love the view counter

I love that it shows the number of times your page was read. I always wondered when I posted and didn't get a reply if anybody acutally read my posts... Now I will know...but do I want to?

And if thats not enough, notice the 'Rate this thread' feature near the bottom right corner. People can now rate threads. So, when you view the forums, instead of the default 'sort by last activity', you can sort by 'thread rating' or .. a number of other things.. 'thread starter', 'date', etc..

The best advice i can give is to play around with any feature you see. And if you cant figure it out, ask... someone is bound to know :)

Awesome!!

This new forum is awesome!!! The new features are great and useful. I'm sure that everyone will get use to the new forum and post like they used to post.

they'll get used to it

It's really not that hard, a little intimidating at first. I'm already used to it because I participate in several other boards that use this exact same software.

I love it!

I Love it!

Thinking back to all the features that people said it would be nice if this site had, this looks like all of them and then some! Of course, it sounds like not everybody's DNS has updated to the new server yet...had to point at least one person here by using the IP that www.chiefdelphi.com resolved to for me...and that's after flushing the cache...oh well, soon enough, I suppose...

Now to get my picture up there =)

My first instinct is that the rating stuff could get out of hand - seen it happen before, but overall I love the new setup! Very close to the UBB board setup that I'm used to....two thumbs up here :D

rating getting out of hand

I agree with Lora about the rating getting out of hand...

There used to be a stat page back at the old forum, and from time to time people post on the forum for a high number.

These new forums have so many stats everywhere. From the total number of posts to posts per day to number of times a message is viewed.

But, I don't think it will be as much of a problem as these new forums are a lot more organized. Even with large amount of posts people can still customize their setting to make sure they can still take full advantage of this place.

I think we should still keep the stats for now, because they can tell us more about the behavior of people in this place, and let us learn more about how other people use this place...
