In 2013, during the tiebreaker match in finals at the Michigan State Championship, one of our alliance partner's auton frisbees bounced off the goal and landed directly in our robot between our pivoting shooter/magazine and base, effectively trapping it in the up position and preventing us from scoring the rest of the match. Fortunately, our driver switched to defense and our alliance managed to win the match.

2009...built a really nice turret robot. wrong choice. we were so close to the right one while planning, just went down the wrong path.

In 2012 our robot was amazing and we ended up as a first round pick on Archimedes along with 195 and 2415. We went against 1114 and 2056 in quarters and were looking great until we sprung a nasty pneumatic leak at the end of our first match and messed up the double balance. We ended up not being able to fix it and lost the second match by only 11 points. If our pneumatics hadn't have broken we easily could have scored 11 more points and could have taken it to a third match.

Speaking of 1114 and 2056 in 2012... we've played against them at Toronto along with 610 and 188... if we didn't fall over in both final matches while doing the triple balance, we'd win the regional (and be the first alliance to win against 2056 EVER)

QFT. 6 matches of agony in the SEMIS ALONE. Replayed for just about every reason in the book...field issues, ball-pedestal issues, cameraman-knocking-ball-onto-field issues...

The entire experience was probably 3476's worst during competition. Before the first SF match we lost tread on our center two wheels and had to scramble to fix it. It was only at that time we realized that we had forgotten to under-size our hex shafts in the design, and it was impossible to get the wheels off :ahh: Thankfully our alliance partner, 1717, thought quickly and riveted the tread straight back on.

In total, we played 10 matches during eliminations. By the end it was almost comic.

(I'm pretty sure we still have the screwdriver I physically bent trying to get those wheels off...)

We went turret and swerve drive that year. It was a beautiful robot that won us an award for design, but that was it. We ended up scrapping the turret for a dumper for worlds (we paid our way that year). We went 0-8, but we had fun.

*At the regional level.

At the Virginia Regional this year we played a total of 6 matches on Friday and something broke during every single one of those matches.

Also in 2013 at the palmetto regional during a qualification match a frisbee loaded into the slot was loaded in too early and hit our power switch and turned our robot off...

I saw this as an FTAA at Chesapeake, but it was during the match.

The worst I've come across was this year. We opened the chute door and the tote didn't move. Not even an inch.

Our robot pooped out a battery.
I had made a fairly solid mount for it, with a door and everything. Somewhere between mounting the frame on the chassis and mounting the control system, it was removed. We drove over the step in autonomous, and out it went. Fortunately, it was quickly fixed with some rope, and that stood up pretty well.

Same thing happened to us. I have video of it. Fortunately it was just a practice match. Pushing the estop on my 1 and only practice match with the robot in the first 30 seconds was painful.
