Re: Talons/roboRIO - Waterproof?

Kind of a random post:
So, does that mean that I can cool my overclocked quadcopter motors by submersing then in milk? The motors are two black pieces stacked atop a white core, making it an oreo. That's a flying snack! :D

Anyways, a use of nonconductive liquids would to passively cool motor controllers internally! ;)

Has anyone tried using melted iron as a liquid? The robot would probably last long like that! :D

Anyways, back on topic, just use de-ionized water as water!

Yash, make sure your team signs up for NURC. They changed the schedule, game will be announced around New Years, and will take place in October. You'll learn more about water and electronics than you ever wanted to know ;)

That was pretty great. XD

Computers used to be submerged in DI water for cooling. You could probably do the same for a Talon. Doesn't make them water proof in the conventional sense. Any water the robot is likely to be exposed to will be conductive enough to short exposed electronics.

I will query my coach and find out if he is interested. Do you have a link to their homepage?
https://google.com/search?q=nurc returns a lot of different underwater robotics/research facilities/other stuff, so it is hard to find out which one you are talking about! :D

Cool! I shall query my robotics mentor if he will allow it. However, my only concern is the amount of time we waste. We haven't succeeded in anything big this year, yet! I do not think our team has enough time or motivation to do this! :(

However, me being optimistic, I'm sure that we will join, even if it isn't this year :D
