Driver Station Controls

R93
The OPERATOR CONSOLE must not exceed 60 in. long by 12 in. deep (excluding any items that are held or worn by the DRIVERS during the match).

I was wondering because wearables are allowed for the drivers, is it possible to create a gesture glove so that the driver can use finder movements and gestures to control the robot's functions? If taught properly to the driver, using simple motions to control the robot can be easier, less stressful and more efficient because the driver can command the robot without paying attention to the driver station ;) :D

Your answer is in your question.

Keep in mind the "wearables" would need to be disconnected from the DS or the driver during the autonomous period.

And this means you miss the first several seconds of the match waiting for the driver to reattach the control device (either to themselves or to the DS).

If it's to the DS don't forget to press F1 after.

This might need a rules clarification, but you could possibly use something like the Leap Motion to get full gesture interface with the control station. There is even a LabView library for it already: https://www.labviewhacker.com/doku.p...rface%7C%5D%5D

I hope my team can tinker with something like this during the next off season too. You'll likely need a fairly beafy laptop to run it however, and the development effort won't be insignificant.
