I think that this innocently promotes attendance at a local kickoff. For a team weighing the alternatives, concrete details may tend to encourage staying home. For Example, talking a group of high school students into meeting at 6:00 to drive to an official kickoff 2 hours away, versus meeting at 10:00 at the typical team build location.

We wish we could travel to the SC regional Kickoff event, but funds are very tight this year & we'd rather save the money for traveling to regional competitions in the spring.
I'm sure there are thousands of parents, family members, former FIRST students & others who would like to watch the webcast... if they knew the start time. |
