Coke?

Becky,

By 'One glass of Coke can keep me up all night', do you mean Mountain Dew, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, or what. You're really vague. :)

Becky Allen 12-06-2001 17:11

I apologize.

I didn't mean to confuse you, Chris. I was referring to one glass of Coke in the general sense, meaning any caffienated beverage. I told you that Coke could mean anything, but I prefer Vanilla Dr. Pepper.

Keep the coke away from Becky then, she's bad enough NOT hyped up on caffeine. ;)

You most definatley drink soda and a balloon most definately goes "pop." More along those lines, Rochester, NY happens to be at about the dividing line of the Soda/Pop naming system. Everyone to the east says Soda, and everyone to the rest says Pop. So we had plenty of arguements about it at RIT last fall. ;)

Coke, pop, soda,... COLA!!!!!

Coke, pop, soda... I live in Virginia in a town full of people from all over. Some people say pop while others say other things depending on where they're from. My dad is from Ohio, where every word is pronounced a bit different, and my mom is from the south. I have many friends from various places who all say different things. The thing is, I don't ever know what to say. I came up with idea to just say cola. It works and every body gets to laugh, not just one group or another.
C~ya,
Carolyn who is very confused about when to say what around which people.

Matt Leese 13-06-2001 09:39

Cola would work.....but only when you're talking about Cola. ;) You still need t come up with something to represent, say, Sprite and 7-Up (Lemon-Lime? that's too long for me). There are others too. That's why it has to be soda. ;)

Drink names

I call it Coke.

How about carbonated beverage or CO2 drink?:D

Joe Ross 13-06-2001 10:01

In LA, we call it soda or coke, but pop is something the weasel does ;)

Joel J 13-06-2001 12:19

...

Soft Drink?....
TW?....
CS?....

Those are the terms I have heard, when people refer to the general carbonated beverage...

I've never heard of Vanilla Dr. Pepper. Is that something new that just hadn't made it down here to Huntsville, AL yet. Cherry Mt. Dew has recently became really popular down here. I hadn't had Faygo in a long time, but I just saw an advertisement recently.

Carolyn Duncan 13-06-2001 17:43

You could call the sprite, and wanna-bees, citrus or just be very specific. Say Pepsi or Coke, Sprite or Mtn. Dew, etc. That could solve the problem.
C~ya,
Carolyn
:)

mike o'leary 13-06-2001 23:50

my grandmother calls it tonic...but no one else i know does

i always refer to it by its name: coke, pepsi, sprite, mountain dew, 7 up, star cola, etc....

Gotta have... sssssshhhasta!

Wasn't there a Shasta commercial about 10-15 years ago that went something like this:

Gotta have...
Gotta have...
Gotta have... Ssssssshhhhhasta!

... and there was this dorky guy running around in a Hawaiian shirt, shoving a Shasta can in the camera.

I grew up on TV... waaaay too much. And I know that commercial. Anyone else out there with me?

Why was my immediate reaction when i heard about a dorky guy to think of Andy? Maybe it's just me. ;)
