how do you hold pins in?

We put some pins in and they don't stay in? We can't come up with ideas, but they aren't legal. Please help us.

What kind of pin setup are you talking about? I am assuming you are talking about putting pin through shaft to lock sprocket in, or similar setup. And I am also assuming your pins are not spring pin or something like that...

So normally when you put a pin through a shaft, you can bend it at the both end (if it's long enough) so it won't slip out, or use some kind of shaft collar to hold it in. If you are using a spring pin, it's supposed to hold in, unless the hole is too large.

The drilled holes for solid pins should be the exact size as the pin - if it's slightly loose, you can use Loctite for cylindrical fits - it's a fastener and legal.

If I remember correctly, I believe the pins are 3mm x 15mm. If you can't find the 15mm you can use 16mm and they work fine.

Brian. Do you have any toolmakers or machinests on your team, they would know how to retain a pin in a hole.
assuming you dont then you could use a hardened bolt with a lock nut on it if you have the room.
Drilling holes through a shaft tends to weaken the rod and braking of the shaft at the drill area is possible with the high pushing powers need for this years games.
A key way is the best way but must be done by a qualified person.
