Motor Design Tool

Hi All,

I wanted to recieve some feedback on this concept before the flood of kickoff, but as Im on vacation, that meant finding an internet cafe to upload everything I had. I apologize for any typos and unedited prose...

Ive spent the better part of week finding a method to cross compare every possible combination of FRC motor and gearbox, in order to aid in the intital design process of motor selection. This is done as the user inputs his/her needed torque and angular speed. Sort of like the JVN tool for wider applications. While it's currently under development, it is capable of base-level functionality, and I'd love to get feedback on the thoery within the MATLAB script, as well as the individual data (Some of which was determined on the fly, and could use more accurate data), housed in the Excel Sheet.

The Main Excel Sheet is imported into a MATLAB script that outputs a cell array 'a' containing all the possible combinations of motors and gearboxes that satisfy the user-inputs. This array can be pasted in Excel, and sorted by factors of current draw, cost, and weight. (haven't gotten the chance to figure out how to re-import to 'output' in the Main Sheet). Hopefully, if accurate enough, it can be of use to teams in initial design stages.

To run the script, copy the text in the Word file to a MATLAB script file and save within the MATLAB directory. In addition, the Excel sheet must also be saved in the MATLAB directory to function properly.

As always, feedback is appreciated!

Happy New Year!!
