Autonomous 10 Sec Shooting

Where can you shoot during the auto 10-sec time? Can you move before shooting? Please include details and where you found this in the rules!!

Re: Autonomous 10 Sec Shooting

Per Rule G15

Quote:

During AUTO,
  • A. a ROBOT starting in the white ZONE may not cross fully beyond the TRUSS
  • B. a ROBOT starting in its GOALIE ZONE must remain in contact with the carpet in its GOALIE ZONE.
Violation: FOUL. If contact with an opponent ROBOT, TECHNICAL FOUL.
For future, please read the manual before asking questions that can be found within 5 seconds of looking at the manual

The manual says nothing about moving before or after shooting. I assume you can shoot and move at any point during auto.

Re: Autonomous 10 Sec Shooting

If you have like 3 balls bouncing around after 10 seconds of autonomous how do you get the 2 extra off the field without being in violation of having more than one ball in play? How would you start the first scoring cycle? Thanks

You start by scoring them. There is no rule specifically stating that only one ball is in play. Once all 3 balls are scored, one will be introduced to start the cycles. (General implication from rules as written, and introduction)

Sounds good, thanks

Let's say, for an example, two (or even one) of the robots on an alliance have a ball in their robot but their robot is dead. The one working robot would be unable to collect any more balls and thus be unable to score, correct? I haven't had much time to read the rules deeply, so I'm sorry if this is addressed in there.

EDIT: This question was also discussed in this thread.

There is a rule however that the pedestal will only light up when all balls that started in autonomous have been put through the goal. However, if a robot starts auto with a ball and becomes disabled and can't get rid of it's ball does the pedestal never light up because the last ball hasn't been scored?

Here's the quote from the game manual I'm referring to:

Quote:

Although an ALLIANCE may start a MATCH with up to three (3) BALLS, the PEDESTAL will only be illuminated when the last BALL that started the MATCH is SCORED, effectively reducing the number of BALLS in play per ALLIANCE to one (1).

This is also an issue in teleop. No word from GDC; I've suggested this be asked in Q&A ASAP.

I agree, that would be ridiculous if you cannot score a single point during teleop due to one disabled robot.
