Re: are these legal for the game this year?
We last used these on Logomotion. They are obsolete, and out of stock everywhere. But since they where in the KOP at one time (before I joined the team) We were able to use them that year, don't know if it holds true for this year.
With that I will say, (and please don't hate me for this) I have not fully read this years rules. I'm still trying to figure out this passing stuff. |
Re: are these legal for the game this year?
I think you're down to arguing whether the "port diameter" is less than 1/8" NPT. The nominal diameter of 1/8" NPT is 0.405" and those are 1/4" push fittings, so their diameter is obviously less. So I'm pretty sure they should be legal.
I'd go with the standard "Ask the GDC", but you're nearly guaranteed to get a "We can't rule on the legality of specific items" response. Maybe if you asked for clarification that the rule is specifying that the port diameter is less than the nominal diameter of 1/8" NPT? |

You can also send Big Al a quick message on CD and see what he thinks. He is gearing up for LRI training this weekend but should be able to get back to you.

Legalities aside I would toss it... in my experience with those solenoid valves they fail regularly and have a relatively large footprint for what they accomplish.

Re: are these legal for the game this year?
While I haven't checked for differences in this years rules from the last year or two, we last used these in 2012. They (for us) have had a low failure rate, and are great because they are flat and stack well, compared to valves on individual manifolds.
Having said that, they are nowhere to be found, and last year we went to SMC manifold blocks, and SMC SY3240-6LZ double solenoid, and the SMC SY3140-6LZ single solenoid. These worked great, and using the manifold blocks really helped with space issues, as well as being able to quickly add another valve when we needed it. |
