Kinect Skeleton

Hello,

I was wondering whether or not the 2014 FRC driver station/Dashboard is still capable of sending a kinect skeleton to the robot during autonomous mode. If so, how can I have the robot access the angles from the skeleton? I'm using LabVIEW. Sorry for the newbie questions, but this is my first year programming.

Thanks!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news..... but "hybrid mode" is no longer a thing. That was a rebound rumble thing only. At least I am 99 percent sure, this has instituted doubt in my mind and I can not recall whether there was or wasn't a hybrid mode last year.....

edit: checked match videos of last year, there was no kinect station like there was in rebound rumble.

I have not tried it, but it looks like everything still supports the Kinect. The Driver station still has a kinect indicator in the diagnostic tab and LabVIEW still has Kinect VIs in the DriverStation folder. See here for the documentation: http://firstforge.wpi.edu/sf/docman/..._documentation

As you noted, there was no kinect station last year. However, it was still possible to use the Kinect from the drivers station.

From the 2013 Getting started with Kinect:

Quote:

2013 Kinect Usage Notes: Per the 2013 FRC Rules, use of a Microsoft Kinect device is a permitted as part of a team’s Operator Console. No Kinect and no Kinect Kiosk will be provided on the playing field. Teams are expected to coordinate with their alliance to arrange for any space they may need in the Alliance Station to operate the Kinect.
From the 2013 Q/A:

Q.During Autonomous do the rules allow the use of a Kinect attached to the operator console to provide input to the robot?
A.There are no Rules prohibiting this

what. mind = blown. I didn't see a team do this, was there one? That is...really clever. I apologize for my answer of no.

During a MATCH, the ROBOT shall be operated solely by the DRIVERS of that TEAM.

Violation: TECHNICAL FOUL
I'm curious if a coach providing information to the robot via the kinect would qualify as operating

Well, I submitted a question to the Q&A, so we'll see whether it is legal this year soon enough.
