Eclipse Plugin

Does anyone know if the current plugin for Eclipse is compatible with code written using the current Netbeans plugin? I've checked all of the links that I could find for the Eclipse plugin and it seems to have not been updated for two years which concerns me. Our primary programming machine uses Netbeans but it can be difficult to get Administrator access to install Netbeans whereas Eclipse can be portable.

Re: Eclipse Plugin

See my previous post from last year on using eclipse with FRC. There is a video walk through.

This video was made for 2013, the steps should be identical however, when I get some time this weekend, I will update it for 2014.

Hope this helps,

Re: Eclipse Plugin

Although it doesn't help this year - I have heard that next year (with the new "cRIO" and software), Eclipse is going to become the standard IDE - so you won't have to jump through hoops like this each year.

Re: Eclipse Plugin

Thank you for your post... my team has been fortunate enough to be selected by FIRST to be an alpha tester for the 2015 control system and I am the lead mentor on that project... the initial plugins released for the alpha hardware was in fact for eclipse so hopefully it stays that way.

In either case I feel it is important for the students to learn how to set up build configs and ant scripts because that's what they will be doing once they become amazing software engineers and enter the working field.

Sometimes I feel that FIRST spoon feeds too much on the programming side or encapsulates too much of the information id like my students to learn first hand... but I completely understand the need to reduce the entry learning curve for this program to thrive and support rookie and rokkie-again teams.
