powder coating after assembly??

So our drive is all machined and not together, we just a local shop to powder coat stuff for us.

So we are split as to whether or not we should have them powder cost each part separated or after assembly. They have huge ovens and our drive is 28"x 28"x 2"

thanks

You want to take the risk that if you remove something from it there's no powder coating on the hidden surfaces?
You welded the frame and are prepared to grind off the powder coating to fix broken joints?
You don't mind the powder coat sticking to everything?
You hope corrosion won't form between 2 parts of metal stuck together in close proximity?

Generally I don't powder coat my vehicles with the car assembled.
I may powder coat the frame but it's welded and after assembly of the car if the frame breaks the repair will be hard anyway.
So grinding off my powder coat might be the easy part.

We have each part powder coated.

This way we don't have to worry about nuts and bolts getting baked to the frame.

Your choice though

For our gusset/rivet and sometimes welded frames we powder the entire assembly. Much easier that way.

We rivet, then weld, then powder coat our frames.

If you are confident a sub-frame assembly of some sort shouldn't have to come apart, the fewer number of indivudal assemblies, the better.

We powdercoat in our own shop, and we will do all of our gusseted/welded frames as one piece as it is much easier to handle than several individual parts.
