FIRST Choice Solenoids need base ?

A rookie team we are helping has a number of FC "Double Solenoid Valve Kit (fc14-098)". I have not seen them yet. Does anyone know if they require bases to be useful or can you screw in a air source into the bottom of them ? If bases are needed, happen to have a link to them ?

These shouldn't require any any additional base parts to function. The 3 ports screw into the module and then you just put in the pneumatic tubing.

Make sure you use an M4 wrench to tighten the fittings -- unlike some nameless students from my team who thought the valves were defective when they pressurized the system and had leaks...

Thanks That's good news.

Looks like your students are made of the same stuff as ours :)

Dave,
Everything you need to wire and add air comes with that fc-098 kit.

A little hint for the quick disconnect fittings is you use a 4 mm hex key INSIDE the fitting to snug it into the value.

Another nice thing to know is the two blue buttons at each end will allow you manually turn on the value without the need for a electrical control. Real handy for testing.

Thanks again. Great picture. We've very familiar with SMC stuff. Never seen the Festo stuff. I am sure we will be up helping our rookie team with their pneumatics any day now :)

Snug away but also use the teflon tape on the threads in the usual manner. Be sure to use the correct mm size. You neither want to raise any burrs nor leave any metal shavings inside the valve. They make a base for multiples of this valve that will make more sense to use if you are going to line up multiple solenoids. I found them once, but we skipped pneumatics last year, so my notes are in another book . . . . . somewhere. :D

We got some of these valves also (FC14-137), but not the complete kits - they were already sold out. The only thing we're missing are the wired connectors that plug into the solenoids. We have the sub base connectors (FC14-132) but they do not come with the wired plugs.

Anybody know a source for them???
