Thoughts and prayers to the team 1732 family, the Purdue student body, and Andrew's family and friends. I never had the pleasure of meeting Andrew when I went to school there, and I wish I had. I was very sad to hear about this tragedy.

My thoughts and prayers are with Andrew's family and teammates in their time of need. 1732 is, and always has been, a fantastic team. So sad to see a member pass so soon.

I don't even have words. On behalf of the Kamen family, as well as the MidKnight Inventors - our thoughts are with Andrew's family and with the Hilltoppers.

It is never easy to hear that the FIRST community has lost someone, but one of the great things about us is how much of a family we all are - we're here for each other. Sending all the good energy I can to those affected.

What terrible news. There are no words for this sadness. It's such a senseless tragedy. Everyone on FIRST Team 537 sends their very best mojo and thoughts to all of Drew's family and friends, and to the Hilltoppers.

Please accept team 1503's sincere sympathies on the sudden death of your 1732 Hilltopper Robotics team member, Drew. As a member of this FIRST community for many years, I will remember that "It's not about the robot" It is about the people like Drew that make FIRST proud. Please know that the 1503 family, will be praying for your family. With heartfelt condolences.

From all the FIRST alumni here at the University of South Carolina and members of team 4901, we wish extend our condolences to the family, team, and community. Such acts of violence are completely senseless and and extremely horrifying.

Re: Sad news

Thank you for all the thoughts, kind words and prayers during this difficult time. We are reminded that FIRST really is a community, a family, and your support is so dear as we try to grasp the tragic loss of our good friend and teammate Andrew “Drew” Boldt. Kind. Genuine. Appreciative. Talented. Diligent. With seemingly boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm that never faltered, Drew was, and is, a role model who epitomized FIRST in every way. He was the son every dad wishes he had. During the days the team struggled, Drew kept Team 1732 going, always working, never giving up. A "do-er" and a giver, and one of the nicest persons you could ever meet, he was highly accomplished, yet he had so much ahead of him. He will be missed greatly and deeply.

Purdue student here.

In case anyone has not been keeping up with the news, the man responsible was quickly detained by the very efficient Purdue Police Department. You can read a timeline here.

I struggle finding the best words here, but it's hard to fully realize what happened today, especially considering how close we all were to the incident. You never think it will happen in your area until it does. I still am struggling to realize this happened. I especially sympathize for people I know who were in the same building, one even in the same classroom.

I didn't know him personally, but I have read and heard many accounts of him being a truly good man. I hope that for whomever knows him personally can find some solace. Many Purdue networks have reached out with their condolences and calls for solidarity.

Around 8:00 P.M. tonight, Purdue held a candlelight service in Memoriam. It was beautiful yet bittersweet to see the Purdue Community come together like that.

I'm struggling to continue writing this, so I'll end with this:

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are affected.

Boiler Strong.

Rest in Peace Andrew. You were taken away too soon but you left a lasting impression on all those you have met.

This reminds me of the shooting on Virginia Tech after the 2007 championship and the first thing I thought was if any of the kids from FRC 401 the Hokie Guard were victims being it was in the engineering building. Fortunately they were ok. Sadly this time it's not the case. Blessing to the friends and family of the victim.
