Can the vex ball shifter be powered by a single cim?

To conserve cims we were wondering if it was possible to power the ball shifter which we will be using for the purpose of pulling back our winch, with a single cim. I know the page says it was designed for use with two, but if it is possible to use one, i'd like to know for testing purposes atleast. Thank you!

Yes it will run with just one CIM.

You might want to consider using two mini CIMs, (if they are available in your design) as they will load the input gear equally and give you 1/3 more power then a single large CIM. Check your gear ratio as the Mini CIMs have a higher free running speed.

The gearbox will work with only one motor connected. You'll have to do the math to determine whether a single CIM will be able to drive your winch through it.
