Music Suggestions?

Is the music played at competitions from any particular list or is it at each dj's discretion? I ask because I'd like to know to whom to direct a song suggestion.

There is a list that FIRST generates of acceptable songs. It's a large list, so DJs have a good amount of leeway, and additional songs not on the list may still be played if they meet several requirements.

You would need to contact people on the regional/district event committee who will be hiring the DJ for the event. As a person on such a committee, please be advised; it is a bigger deal than it ought to be to get a song request in, and as soon as one request goes in, it opens the floodgates for a boondoggle of requests.

Here is the list from 2012, I don't think I have seen one from last year.

FYI, I have never seen a DJ at an official event who takes requests. You can try, but in my experience the answer will be "I don't take requests".

They usually keep them well inside the playing field perimeter so no one bothers them (I don't let people down there to talk to them. I got netter things to do than worry what song is being played. Otherwise I'd corrupt their Chicken Dance file).

Oh, and The Cupid Shuffle (and the rest of those songs that waste time during the event)

But how will I know when the field breaks if you guys corrupt all the line-dancing songs? I've noticed a strong correlation...

There is a 1-to-1 correlation with the field breaking and line dancing.

Therefore, line dancing songs break the field.

QED

And that "song" that basically goes

10 deet deet deet-deet deet deet-deet deet deet-deet-deet-deet-deet
20 goto 10
