Talons and Jaguars

Is there much difference between programming a jaguar and programming a talon?

Re: Talons and Jaguars

The only difference is that when you open the motor controller, you select either Jaguar or Talon.

Jaguars also have the option of being controlled using CAN instead of with a PWM signal. This can open up many more possibilities for how to program it, if you want to exploit them.

Re: Talons and Jaguars

if you use pwm cable to wiring them, no difference. However I highly encourage the use of jags if you have a good programming team. There are a lot of useful features they offer none of the other options do. Such as a build in PID mechanism and controls in various ways such as set speed, position, or current based. You can also read current draw from the motors and program in software limits since fuse ratings may be too high to prevent damage this feature could be used for that.
