Hunting new freshmen: While one team member (far left) distracts the prospects, another waits with a T(ranquilizer)-shirt cannon.

It's interesting. You can actually tell out of those 6 kids who would actually build the robot and who would sit back and eat Cheese-its.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

OK, here is the standard vision system test. Find the one bag of Cheetos and then distinguish between the large white stripes and the small white stripes. Ready, set, Go!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

FIRSTer: "Come to our meeting, we'll have Cheetos, Pepsi, t-shirt cannons, inner tubes, robots, math and science, you'll get out of school and have lots of fun!"

Kid on right: "You had me at Cheetos."

rsisk 27-01-2014 09:56

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

The kids were in awe as Tim demonstrated using a picture of a game controller on his tshirt to drive the robot

Taylor 27-01-2014 10:31

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

The kid on the right has some real motivation - he's close, but not quite. It's pizza and Mt Dew, not Cheetos and Pepsi.

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

How'd you get them to look at the robot when there's a cannon in the background?

Wayne Doenges 28-01-2014 12:27

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

Six students came to see a robot build
All they saw was a tube being filled

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

Getting 6 kids to come see a demo - good
Getting their attention away from the guy with the shiny gold necklace - better
Getting them to ignore the T-shirt cannon -excellent
Getting them to focus entirely on a guy filling a tube - priceless!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

If you can make the robot work, you get to keep it!

DonRotolo 02-02-2014 17:22

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

OK kids, now focus real hard on the arm pivot here....
(tip of arm grabs soda and snack)
Yoink!

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #499

FIRST guy demoing to the kids: Now if you take a good look at this bolt underneath the third L-bracket from the left behind this sheet of plastic...
Random Kid in the audience: Cheetoscheetoscheetoscheetoscheetoscheetoscheetos etc. etc.
T-shirt cannon guy telepathically communicating with his team HQ: Tranquilizer-laced titanium net cannon primed and ready for firing, awaiting your command.

Pay no mid to the man with one hand on the cannon. Nothing to see here, move along.
