Place to Purchase Lead Screws

Hey guys

I'm working on a project involving a 3-D printer and stepper motors and I needed to purchase a lead screw
I have searched long and hard online for places to purchase and have had no luck

These are the specs that I know I need

· -Acme Lead Screw Tr8x8(P2)
· -Major Diameter is 8 mm or 5/16”
· -Lead is 8 mm
· -Tr = Trapezoidal
· -Pitch 2mm
· -Flange nut for mounting (any type, anti-backlash, sufficient, etc)
· At least 20 in long

If anyone has any suggestions to look for that would be awesome.
I have tried mcmaster, sdp-si, enco, mscdirect, and amazon
I have found it on robotdigg but it is based in China and I need the lead screw soon

Thanks for your help

If it is just the lead screw and nut that you need, could you do with something else (ie - some other size) that is available quickly? Or is there a specific design reason (ie - replacing existing parts) that you need these specifications?

I specifically need this lead screw
It is the same spec lead screw as the current ones on the Makerbot Replicator 2 but just longer

That may make it easier if anyone knows of a place to find a replacement z-axis lead screw for a Makerbot Replicator 2 that is 20 inches long.

How many starts? Left- or right-handed?

I found some Tr8x8P2 with 4 starts at http://www.helixlinear.com/Product/P...20LH%2 0Alloy
They have both left- and right-handed leads.

Remember, Acme is 14.5 degrees, Trapezoidal is 15. They don't work together. You part needs to be completely metric to DIN 103.

Did you check with Makerbot to find out where they get their lead screws from?

Also try http://us.misumi-ec.com/vona2/detail...rch=lead+screw

Good luck

If it's not for the makerbot replicator, then there shouldn't be anything stopping you from going with a different lead screw. Sourcing components for robots (especially this year) is a tough task. You need to design around what's available.

Apples-It is for a makerbot replicator 2, not for an FRC robot
I graduated last year and am working in a lab that is constructing a vending machine 3-d printer and to automate the part removal process we are using a stepper motor and a lead screw to push the parts off.

DELurker-It is 4 starts (8mm lead divided by 2mm pitch=4 starts) and left or right handed works for us, just a matter of running the motor the opposite direction in software. And you are right about the Acme vs Trapezoidal, I meant to just put trapezoidal as the specification.

Thanks for those links, I'm getting a price quote from Helix linear right now. We'll see how it goes
