4499 Custom Chassis

31 hours in the shop this weekend and the team is proud to show their first pictures of their chassis design. We are a 2nd year team and the kids are making their own chassis this year, what do you think? Any feedback would be great...as a mentor I think it is amazing, but I might be biased!

Looking nice, what did they use to do the work on the tubes? CNC mill or something else?

Re: 4499 Custom Chassis

They used a CNC machine to cut all the patterns in the tubes. It took about 3 hours to do each tube but they turned out great. They used Creo from PTC to generate their CNC G-Code from the actual design of the robot. Everything from cutting the beams to the design was done in-house using our Tree 310 CNC milling machine and other assorted shop equipment.
