How to Use a Manifold

This year, we've decided to use a manifold for the first time, but we don't know how we're supposed to plug in the tubing.
There are three slotss on each side to put in the pneumatics tubing. One of our mentors suggested something about putting in just one tube in one of the slots and using plugs to block out the other holes, but we aren't entirely sure. Do we just plug pneumatics tubing into the middle hole? Or do we need tubes for all three holes? Would putting in one tube in the middle transfer the air to all four solenoids attached to the manifold?

What is the model of the manifold you are using?

Re: How to Use a Manifold

VABM-L1-105-G18-4
Mat. -Nr.: 566560
Serie: D902

it holds solenoid VUVG-L10-B52-T-M7-1P3

i don't know if it matters...but on the three tube connecters for the manifold to connect to the pneumatic tubing...it's number 1 in the middle and then 3 and 5 on the sides

The center port supplies air and the ports on either side of it are the venting holes for the valves that are mounted. I think the holes are repeated on each side of the manifold. If so, plug the center one on the far side unless you are supplying air to another solenoid or mounting pad from it.

How to Use a Manifold

Keep in mind that the manifold will restrict flow rate to some degree. May not be a big deal in your application.

More times than not they are set up so you can have your solenoids mounted in a fashion that one way would be normally open and normally closed. One of the ports would be supply, and the others will be vent.
