Chairman's Award Video

The chairman's award video, is that submitted just at competitions or is it submitted on Thursday(in other words do we have extra time for the video portion)?

Thanks.

If you look on STIMS, there is no place to submit the video. You have up until the competition that you're presenting at to get it done!

Be careful with the formatting, though. FIRST has very strict guidelines about the content and the video format. If you submit it in an unsupported format, your submission will be disqualified for that event, so be careful!

Good luck!

I have a quick question, are piano covers for known songs allowed for chairman's video?

I'm not sure of the specifics, but you'll have to be very careful with the copyright stuff. Not only do you have to deal with the copyright for the original song, but the copyright for the cover.

First off, IANAL.

The piano cover would be likely be considered to be a derivative work (definition), so you would need to obtain permission from the original creator/artist in addition to the creator of the cover.

I would recommend using something that is obviously free to avoid any issues. My team frequently uses ccmixter to find freely licensed music.

http://incompetech.com/ is also a great resource for free music. The guy who makes the music just asks to be credited in the work.
